4.0 out of 5 stars Putting the fun back into fun! 3 Mar 2006
Format:Audio CD|Amazon Verified Purchase
I 1st came across this band on a compilation CD and was blown away by the riffing and the beautiful harmonised choruses. Now I have the album in my hands and wondered if it would have the same impact....WOW! Yes! Metallica style riffing, 60's Beach Boys harmonies and MASSIVE choruses make up the initial ear candy (esp. Wow, How cool is Joe's new car) but there's more. Its obvious the band have put absolutely everything they have to give into this CD. Each song has a story behind it and are actually ABOUT something which is unusual for a rock band these days. Its not the fake dark and dangerous ego of say, Marilyn Manson but the reason it all works is because these guys are singing about what they know about ie partying with friends, cruising with a beer and getting through life with a big smile on your face. Sounds good to me! Think 'A' meets the Beach Boys meets Metallica and a whole load of music experimentation but still wrapped up in gorgeous, fun pop songs. Go buy this.

5.0 out of 5 stars Why are they not already massive! 8 Aug 2000
Format:Audio CD|Amazon Verified Purchase
The first review pretty much summed up the greatness of this album, but i feel it is only right that I write my views. After hearing "a little indulgence is good for the soul" about a year ago i have waited paitently for the release. I thought if the other songs are half as good i was on to a winner. As it turned out the other songs are even better, and i still cannot decide on a favourite, the're too consistantly good for that. The lyrics are well written, each providing a story, and the music is simply amazing. Everyone who i have played this CD to has loved it. Although i feel kinda special that so few have heard this CD, they deserve every success, and everyone deserves to listen to this album.

Twelve Short Stories has easily satisfield expectation despite the long wait. Quite simply it's fantastic. Ruby Cruiser have made a dozen memorable tracks which should put Abergavenny on the musical map and make them all very rich. The band's sound is somewhere between 'A' and the Foo Fighters, mixed in with a little 60's west coast harmonisation. Highlights include 'Everybody Wants to Be cool' and 'Ill take No 42...'. If you like the 'Foos', and or Feeder, get this album now.
