'Here on the Upper East Side, these kids have everything they need...but, it's become all about want'
Twelve is a 2010 drama directed by the great Joel Schumacher. The film was adapted from the novel of the same name by Nick McDonell, who was only 12 when he wrote it...the book, which I have read, is a bit like the product of Brett Easton Ellis' kid brother, if he had one. The film tells a story of drug addiction, violence, and sex among wealthy teenagers from Manhattan's Upper East Side.
The film opens during Spring Break on the Upper East Side. White Mike (Chace Crawford), once a wealthy, carefree teenager, now struggles to scrape out a living as a pot dealer, dealing to his former classmates. Mike's good friend, Molly Norton (Emma Roberts), a sweet girl from the poorer side of town, doesn't know he is a drug dealer. Mike's supplier is Lionel (Curtis Jackson, aka 50 Cent), also deals the highly alluring, addictive, expensive, new drug "Twelve", which the pretty young things start to get a taste for.
Things start to spin out of control at hottie-it-girl Sara's birthday party.
Critics have unfairly labelled this film as 'Gossip Girl' with more sexs and drugs and arguably yes,there are parallels here (like Chace Crawford). Also like GG, there is a narrator, here it is Keifer Sutherland, who is oddly effective in his dispassionate delivery.
However, I feel the film more than stands on its own and I recommend it for the 15-25 age group.

The title of this review is how i described it to my friend! She totally understood, i watched it online and i have to say i wasn't expecting what i was about to see...it was really good, filled lots thrills and chills. Its like a kinds skins like american movie, but with a lot of tragic deaths which was a bit over exaggerated. But it was good enough for me to get the dvd.

This is a great little film released without much of a fanfare and publicity. I Don't want to give out spoilers so nothing to add to the Amazon synopsis but its worth a a nights rental - a very entertaining drama.
