Bought this book for style ideas for decorating a home in Italy. Barely a useful idea in it.
Photos were poorly composed and rather odd, e.g. an outdoor table with half-eaten food on it and a single chair thrown upside-down on the ground. Another horrible photo of a plastic table-cloth badly wrapped over some sort of plank and the mess after another meal. No beauty. Not shabby chic. Just rubbish to fill a book. And in this mean-spirited book a depressing photo of miserable faces looking as if they were being photographed unwillingly, after yet another meal - perhaps they'd just had an argument.

I purchased this book back in 2005, in Downtown Cincinnati, Ohio(USA). Going to school for Interior Design (with aspirations for a future in furniture making), I had to purchase a special book for one of my classes. To save money, I lurked in and out of book stores to make my own purchase rather than paying the school.
For the first time in my life I seen this book on Tuscany Style? Not Country French, not Americana, not anything I had heard or seen before. It took my breath away and took me back in time in consideration of what my own great grandparents left behind in German-Ireland. TRADITION!
This Tuscany Style represents Traditional, family generations of Italian Countrymen and their homes. Their possessions are not materials, but lifelong friends of the family and heirlooms. The home and styles represented in this little book introduce you to true "style" as per the individual. It can not be bottled, prepackaged or regenerated and sold. Tuscany is unique, warm, heartfelt and almost spiritual.
I highly suggest any one with a creative gene and an appreciation for traditions buy this book. It has inspired my heart and mind for the future in a specific style of furniture.
Let it inspire you too.

Good Pocket-size Source of Pictures of Tuscany

Tuscany Style: Landscapes, Terraces & Houses, Interiors, Details (Icons) has many images (photographs) representative of Tuscany: the countryside, houses, and interiors. It easily fits in a purse or case to take along during shopping trips. Purchase this for its images, however, as the book does not have explanations or instruction/ guidelines. A helpful resource for examples of Tuscan colors and styles.

great pictures

This is basically a pictorial of the ins and outs of italian lifestyle. I find the rich colors and sense of simplicity coming through the photos to be what I needed for the project I am working on. Lots of small details in these photos make the overall very well worth the search for this book.

I just purchased this book thinking that it was something that it turned out not to be.
I was looking for a book that had the pictures of "Tuscany Style" (It does), but also a book that would come with some sort of instructional descriptions to possibly achieve something similar.
This book is STRICTLY Pictures!
The only places where words are used, are at the begining of the book (Introduction) and near the end of the "Chapters" where the photos are given "Titles" like artwork.
I am not going to give the book 5 stars, as I wish the book description included this information.
I am not going to rank it lower than 4 stars, because it basically covers what the title says "Tuscany Style." To achieve the extra star, required that something extra... Helpful Wording.
