I love the appearance of acacia wood and decided to purchase this bread bin despite the fact that I was on the hunt for a bargain. The price of this item was rather more than I had hoped to spend and so I had high expectations. I am happy to say that my expectations were met. The product is just as attractive as I had hoped, constructed from pieces of acacia wood with a pleasing grain and tone. The handle is understated and does not detract from the wood itself. The build quality seems very good and the action of the lid is smooth. I would say the capacity of the bread bin is average, comfortably storing a large loaf of bread and perhaps a few crumpets.

Like another reviewer I was not originally intending to pay so much for a bread bin, but having examined an even more expensive example of this model in a local store, I was impressed by both it's appearance and seemingly robust build quality. The fold down front cover is a skew fit, instead of parallel as one would expect at this price break, so that there is a wedge-shaped gap where it meets the baseboard bracing. The inner base appears to be of another, rather flimsy material of uncertain provenance. Whilst I am rather handy at DIY, it is difficult to see how the front cover was fitted, thus making it difficult, not to say impossible, to carry out any remedial work. All in all a great disappointment.
I am writing my first review to prevent others from purchasing expecting it to look like the picture. I bought this bread bin only for the look of the wood. The top and sides which do not show look like the picture. The front of the bin looks completely different - boring and plain with no pattern to the wood. If they had used the same wood as the picture or the rest of the bread bin I would have been happy.
