5.0 out of 5 stars Headset...of the gods!!! 5 Jan 2012

Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
I bought this XP500 headset when another well-known company recently delayed the release of their wireless headset.
I should not have bothered with the other ones as from what I've seen, the XP500 abilities far exceed the other make!
With the XP500, when you change a setting or switch the headset on or off, the darn things tell you audibly what is going on. Awesome!
You can also change the presets for the equaliser system using a PC via USB so that you can put in your own sound preference setups for games.
The XP500 can deal with two separate bluetooth profiles so that you can use it for gaming AND your iPad or other device such as phone as I do.
The XP500 supports both Xbox and PS3. They make great headsets for listening to PC and your music centre. The pass-through on the digital optical connectors is a great idea as you can plug the optical audio feed in to the XP500 transmitter station and then feed it from there to your surround-sound system saving you the trouble of having to "rewire" the optical feed each time you change from headset to surround-sound and vice versa.
The sound quality is incredible. Having had so-called "audiophile" sound from well-known audio specialists, I can honestly say that they don't even come close to the sound quality from the XP500. You won't regret buying them. With DolbyDigital for the optical input and Dolby Pro-Logic for the stereo inputs, in my opinion, you just can't go wrong!!
The only negatives I can see with this headset is that the phones themselves are a bit of an eater of AA alkaline batteries. However, they do work just fine on NiMH AA cells. Just pick up a cheap charger and a couple of sets (takes 2xAA cells) of batteries and you're good to go.

2.0 out of 5 stars Average quality 2 April 2012
Fun: 2.0 out of 5 stars
I bought this headset a few months ago, and have predominantly been using it for my PS3. However I must say that I was far from excited.
Although the packaging and the `unboxing' experience is good, the headset feels cheap. If I shake my head while wearing it (like when walking around the house or playing intensely) I can hear the parts moving. It just doesn't feel like the price I paid for it. Most of all I have the experience of wearing painted plastic.
The sound is OK, but not great, and I have in fact gone back to my old (Non-TB wired headset) again. The sound is much better there.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good set of 7.1 Headphones 12 Nov 2011
Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
Having had the Sharkoon 7.1 headphones in the past, I found them to be too much and too bassy, causing me to have my eardrum inverted for a few days, however, these Turtle Beach headphones have the right level of bass and treble to protect your ears. I found the presets were all too trebbly and not enough bass, so I had to download the software from the Turtle Beach website to configure my own presets. There are no instructions anywhere that I could find, so had to muddle along and mix through the millions of combinations to get the sound I was looking for.

The mic is ok, but friends say that it's not as clear as the basic headset when I speak. I have turned up the gain on the mic to the max too.

What is amazing about these headphones is that I can't tell the difference between having the headphones on, or having the surround sound system on....it's weird to explain, but they are so good at providing an immersive esperience (tweaking of settings permitting) that they will honestly draw you into the game.

Why the hell would they package the headphones in that massive plastic lunch box, I'll never understand when we're trying to be green and eco-friendly these days. Nice touch but utterly useless, unless you have a kid who's young enough to go to school with it.

These headphones connect to the digital optical out from the console, so unless your DVD player has a digital optical out, you can't use them to watch TV with.

Overall - I don't think they're worth the price, but if you do splash out, with a little tweaking, you won't be disappointed. There is also the Mad Catz headphones due out in December 2011 to consider.

Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
I bought these cans in Feb 2012 so I've had them 3 months now and i love them... build quality is brilliant and sound quality is unmatched. i must say i have never had over the ear headphones before but I do have a home theatre system with 5.1 Dolby digital surround sound and these cans blow it out the water! The detail of the sound is brilliant and I've noticed sounds i didn't think were there, on the negative side the battery life is poor, the only advice i can give is just buy some rechargeable battery's :)

4.0 out of 5 stars AWESOME!!! 3 May 2012
Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
Upgraded to these after having TB X4 and they are AWESOME!!! games and movies will put a smile on your face.only issue I have is the the GHZ is the same as most of the wireless tech in your house and it interferes with the receiver so you have to move it around to stop the interference. It's a small issue and I found a spot that gets no interference eventually.dont waste your time with the PX500 just for the Bluetooth dongle it's a waste of time save your money and get the PX5 it's no hassle having the chat cable instead.the dongle doesnt transmit your voice clear all my friends say I sound quiet or under water.I paid the extra really for the look.
