The Ear Force DSS uses Dolby Digital, Dolby Pro Logic llx surround processing technologies, the industry-standard formats for encoding multi-channel game audio. Dolby Headphone processing recreates 7.1 channel surround sound in the X11 headset so you can hear the sound all around you, as if you were listening to a 7.1 speaker system.

Fun:
If you are going to get some headphones for your xbox or pc then dont hesitate to get these, since i got these i havent used my speakers. The sound is great and in black ops gives you a great edge as you can hear someone sneaking up on you. Realy comfortable to wear. my only gripe be it a small one is the cables, You end up with a bundle of them but well worth it. plenty of controls for chat, game volume, bass boost, can have stereo or dolby, mic on or off,and volume level all to hand. In my personal opinion get them I would be supprised if you are dissapointed I was not just like having a surround sound system on your head. before I got these I looked at reviews and the vast magority were good the only gripe people had was the optical cable been not a high quality one and to replace it but I find no problem with it. One word of advice if you have an Elite,arcade or Pro xbox you will have to buy an xbox hdmi audio adapter to use the optical cable but you can get these easily. buy them and enjoy them i sure do.

I recently purchased a set of DX11 although not from Amazon as sadly they where not competitive on price as usual . I received them today and after bit of tweaking on the audio settings with the options menu on Black Ops, I found myself for the first time immersed in the game, and was able to pick up the slightest footsteps, and with the 7.1 dolby surround was able to detect the direction.
Being hard of hearing has always put me at a disadvantage, using Bose Headphones improved a little , the Home Cinema System was loud but too distant. But after a few matches with the DX11's I feel much more assured and score rate is improving as well . I decide not to get the wireless version as others have reported heavy battery use and interference, although there is a lot of wires once you set them out correctly I see no problem.
For me a considered purchase for gaming headphones but I have to say thank you Turtle Beach :)

Fun:
I've been playing xbox for 2 years now, and I was starting to get fed up with being beaten every time i played something like Call of Duty. With the surround sound headset, I have improved my game a lot and im now getting a higher kill death ratio. Xbox live chat is also a lot crisper and clearer, as previously I only had the headset which came with the console. The only slight drawback is the amount of wires. One of my xbox live friends didn't belive they were any good, however, after letting him trial them; he is now ordering a set. Well worth the money!
