Turtle Beach Ear Force PX3 Headset (Xbox 360/PS3)

I decided to go with these over the px5's due to the rechargeable battery. It meant losing the 7.1 surround by I remedied that by also purchasing the ear force dss 7.1 processor and I have to say I'm glad I did. The headset alone provides great stereo sound with the various presets which has really helped improve my gaming ability(particularly on BF3). They work great with games on both Xbox 360 and ps3 but work equally well with my pc for music and movies. I have my router, ps3, Xbox, pc ,iPod and iPhone all working wirelessly within a 3m radius and have had no interference issues whatsoever so can only assume the other reviewer has not set them up properly or has a faulty unit which they should exchange. Don't delay and get some today! ( if you can afford the dss as well then get it as it takes the headset to an unbelievable level for competitive gaming)!!!

Turtle Beach as a company are renowned for their excellent products in the field of gaming however everyone's experience of their products will be different. I've owned 5 headsets of theirs now but not exclusively, I've switched between various companies just tend to be alittle rough with them.

2.4 GHz wireless transmittion problem is one that I havn't come across before but its best to check regardless.

Comfort: For the first few hours they can be comfortable but after a while they can tend to hurt the tips of your ears, also if you wear glasses they can give you slight head aches. Then again, once you get used to them they are very comfortable and the positioning and stability on the head is excellent. Comfort 8/10

Performance: Sound quality clear, Bass strong, Treble excellent but as with previous models their can be a tiny whistleing of feedback if ramped up too far. The mic is brilliant, if you thought that something that long would be ungainly then think again its perfect for eating or drinking while at the computer without losing game time, worrying about the mic in your tea or having to adjust the headset at all. The mic itself is clear and your team mates won't have problems hearing you. Performance 9/10

Additional Extras: The volume control isn't a problem and the extra options given are very useful. Be warned, volume is sensitive, not in a bad way just make sure when playing you can hang it on something or clip it to something, if your volume's gone then its most likely your leg on the volume not the game. The wireless capability is great as is the aux input option, you won't run out of power while diving into cover or in sneaking mode ingame. The presets are infact very useful however customisation is better for active gaming, presets do just what their meant to, they give a base for optimisation. The voice morpher isn't amazing but really what does it matter your playing online not trying to date through the console. Its compatability is good working with all platforms and the positive feed back from others is well earned.

Problems:
1. As with others in the turtle beach series'(s) one should treat these with care, not because they are godly items though it does feel good to use them, more because they can be brittle. They take punishment but not too much, so if you want something that you can kick, trip up on or put in your back pack and travel round the country with (like me) get a second set of something else, these are for your home desktop and not to be moved too often.
2. The whistling sound from the treble is still audable, to perminantly eliminate this and get the full unadulterated increadible sound out of these things, get a DSS 2 converter. Very useful, very good quality plus one can input secondary sounds and tracks into the headphones without detracting from the game. Alot of fun but alittle steep so be aware. The full package for this would be the DPX 3 with DSS 2 included (hence D *see PX 21 and DPX 21). Buy the other half and your made, plus the DSS 2 is compatible with other head sets. In other words if these break and you buy a cheaper 5.1 and plug them into the DSS 2 you get your 7.1 surround sound back.
3. At first they can be alittle uncomfortable, the depth on the ear is alittle shallow, yet unlike so many others the ear cushions do fully encapsulate the ear and shut out most noise (unless you have a sister!). Once used to it their very good for their price.

Conclusion: Fantastic Gaming headphones, affordable high end, with a few mostly resolvable problems but then whats perfect. If you want something that feels great, massages your ears, has amazing well depth and makes you feel like a king then these are not for you. If however your not the richest in the world, want a good set, don't mind alittle discomfort after you've been on far longer that is healthy and prefer quality of sound over purest comfort then these are for you and you'll love every second.

The PX3's are indubitably the best gaming headset I have ever had. For starters I don't have any problems with interference even though I have a wireless router. I can even wonder into other rooms around my house and still hear whats going on.

These are also very comfortable, I can play for many hours and experience no aches or pains. Furthermore the mic is even better still. My friends could tell that I got a new headset due to the clarity of my voice, the mic is so sensitive that they can hear me breathe sometimes so I have to aim the mic away from my mouth.
The surround sound it offers is very good, but the quality in sound kind of lets it down a little. I'm sure if you buy more expensive TB's then you won't have any issues. I find the range of frequencies isn't big enough and the bass kind of gets distorted but apart from that, a very good set.
