Product Description

Product Description

Usually most of us are way too lazy to do it as often as we should - but nevertheless sport is an essential part in the lifes of many gay men; after all one wants to stay healthy and in good shape. And there's even more to it: Sport and what's associated with it - muscles, endurance and physical challenges - are a fetish for a lot of men. The extensive anthology Turnon Sports is dedicated to this topic; it's a huge collection of impressive pictures, attractive and brilliantly staged by artists like Rick Day, John Gress, Domenico Cemmano, Richard Gerst and others.

I doubt if many of the gorgeous guys in this book have ever played in their jockstraps as opposed to out, or better still, partly out, of them - or whatever other erotic sports gear turns you on, because it is all here. Moat of us have locker room fantasies and this book is every gay man's locker room fantasy come true. Except that being models, these sporty guys look sexily sweaty and, rather than being unattainably straight, most of them look delectably ready to seduce and be seduced. Lots of great dudes and not a single dud. This is the stuff wet dreams are made on.

If you want quantity and not quality, this book is for you. 21 Dec 2011
By Invisiboy2001 - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover|Amazon Verified Purchase
Based on the reviews here, I bought this book. Big mistake! While several of the portraits are very good, this book definitely goes for quantity over quality.

Most of the guys (which are just porn stars, not bona fide athletes) look very much alike -- there's not much racial or physical diversity, just a bunch of overly muscled, shaven, manscaped white guys. And most of them are the same "type". Nothing too masculine or sexy going on here, just a bunch of dressed-up gay porn stars. Zzzzz.

Though the book claims to have a sports theme, many photos have nothing to do with sports -- there's very little imagination at work in these pages. Plus, there are no nudes, just serious-faced men suggestively tugging at their clothes. This isn't an exciting book, very much run of the mill. Kind of like Teen Beat with bulges.

Athletic Idols: Twenty Six Photographers Celebrate Sports 17 Dec 2011
By Grady Harp - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
TURNON: SPORTS: THE BEST IN EROTIC SPORTS PHOTOGRAPHY is a well-titled book. In a very fine Introduction by Luke Lalor, Director of Periscope Creative, Berlin the concept for the universal and historical appeal of athletic events and the heroes of past and present who are athlete idols is outlined, preparing the reader for the wide variety of sports presented here and the hint that the models chosen will represent the athlete in action, before an event, in locker rooms, but the sea, in the gym, on the field, coupled with symbols of their trade (headgear, soccer balls, etc), and in varying arrays of full to barely dressed!

But nothing could prepare the reader for the detailed magnificence of the photographs within the pages of this huge book. In both black and white and color the works of 26 photographers are shown, and as is becoming the practice of publisher Bruno Gmünder Verlag, each artist is given multiple pages to show their best examples of Trunon Sports, and each is given a brief but very informative biography. The photographers honored in this conclave are Rick Day, Joseph Sinclair, Richard Gerst, Patrick Mettraux, Tom Cullis, Michael Stokes, David Arnot, Hetor Rodriguez, Kartl Giant, Joan Crisol, Domenico Cennamo, Zoran Trifunavic, Norbert Benike, Louis Daniel Botha, Tim Ricks, Krunnch, Troy Phillips and Akimitsu Sadoi, Serge Forcet, Pedro Virgil, Marcus Mok, Mark Henderson, Gaz, Edward Olen, Jason T. Jaskot, and Kemuel Valdez. An impressive selection - and an even more impressive array of models and art. This is a coffee table book for every home. Celebrate the magnificence of athletes. Rick Day is my Muse 13 Dec 2011
By Manuel A. Saez - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover|Amazon Verified Purchase
I bought this book for one sole reason; because Rick Day was involved with it. His two books, "Players" and "Players Two" are the most impressive photo books I have ever purchased, and anything he does is instantly on my radar for visual consumption. His work is the pinnacle of Male photography, and his use of the immaculate male specimen in his work speaks of someone who understands what his audience clamors for, and provides it in spades with style and admirable technique. If you are looking for a book that continues this trend, and gives a good example of what true male form photography should be, give this book a look. But I implore you to purchase anything by Mr.Day first; you can thank me later.
