Much better than your average cop-and-dog movie (such as K-9), Turner and Hooch is really a love story about a control freak (Tom Hanks) who gradually resigns to the messy chaos of a sweet hulk of a pooch named Hooch. The excuse for this relationship is that the dog can identify a murderer and Hanks needs him, but the film is really about such hilarious moments as Hanks bathing Hooch with a long brush, and a wild chase through the streets when the sharp-eyed mutt spots his suspect. Layered over this is a healthy love story between Hanks and animal vet Mare Winningham, who share a terribly sexy scene together--while fully clothed--doing no more than making breakfast. (Hanks directed this scene, though Roger Spottiswoode directed the rest of the movie.) --Tom Keogh

Fastidious yuppie detective Hanks is forced to take care of the only witness to a puzzling murder--the dead man's dog. The memorably ugly mutt, all skin and slobber, seems determined to eat everything Hanks owns (car included) before the case is solved.

How effective is the Silver Screen in advertising & creating an eager want in someone?(One of the most effective ways to influence a Human)This Review of a 'Nice' Family comedy is a little different from most. I wish to concentrate on Tom Hanks's supporting actor 'Hooch' or beasley as his real name, with any animal purchase, choosing the correct type, breed, sex etc demands homework. We settled on the correct breed for us after 18 months of reading, contacting breeders etc & this 'Classic' comedy allowed us to cement our decision! Hooch does exactly whatb he says on the case! (bar the extreme over exaggeration of drool!)watch this film for evidence of this great breeds characteristics: Loyal, loving, Athletic, protective & obviously very trainable! Enjoy the movie, then enjoy the therapeutic benefits of the DDB
