Anyone with an interest in checking out some of the American garage punk of the 60's would do themselves a big favour by starting off with this record.
The Music Machine basicly embody garage music, they released one hit single, one album and all members wore matching black clothes. The album contains their one hit, talk talk which is worth buying this record for alone. However their trump card is an excellant cover of probably the best garage song ever written 96 Tears (originally by ? and the mysterians) they make the song much faster and much more aggressive sounding than the original.
Other highlights are Come on in, Trouble, Masculine Intuition and The People in me.
This album is just short of perfection really, I usually avoid a couple of songs, but overall the album is really great, dead short (as all good garage albums should be)most songs don't go far over two minutes and it has one of my favorate album covers of all time.
Along with The Sonics, ? and the Mysterians,The Monks, The Kingsmen and the Standells, The Music Machine are one of the all time classic garage groups who are far too overlooked in the music history books. Considering how cheap this record just do yourself a favour and give it a listen.
