5.0 out of 5 stars Quite simply - it works 23 Nov 2010

We had tried three other products to overcome weak signal strength on a WiFi network - two didn't work and the third only provided an intermittent and frustrating connection. All three were a real pain to set up as well.

The TurboTenna was very different. It was set up in short order with no fuss whatsoever and it worked extremely well and without any problems. It is worth the extra cost. It does have a physical presence and was a little larger than expected.

5.0 out of 5 stars THE most brilliant piece of kit invented 30 May 2011
I didn't buy this from Amazon, I got mine from the Turbo Tenna shop on Ebay & I bought the 2 in 1 Yagi with a wall mounting bracket for the antenna as for my purpose the tripod was no good. My problem was to provide wifi internet access to our holiday gite, for use by holiday makers in the summer. We are in the middle of the country and so have to receive ADSL via satellite to our house. The gite is 200m from us, so too far away for a cable extension connection and taking out a second satellite subscription was out of the question. This gadget seemed like the solution. It literally grabs the signal from our own house, into the desk top computer it is set up to, then it radiates this, into another strong wifi signal throughout the gite.

Before it arrived I had excellent commication & advice from Turbo Tenna and once ordered it arrived in 3 days (to rural France). I managed to buy a second hand tower desktop pc with Vista quite cheap to link it to & off we went to set it up. Well it works a treat and the extra aerial bit on the one I bought, provides wifi throughout the gite. (I wanted wireless so people could link up effortlessly). The instructions are a little confusing to the non geek, as the screen shots relate to Windows 7 & they are different for Vista. No big deal though. I got there in the end. The bracket is very simple (& a tad expensive for what it is) but enabled me to mount the aerial out of reach, so actually worth it.

This is a brilliant product & the company, Turbo Tenna is one of the best I have ever dealt with. E mails are answered within 2 hours, even on a bank holiday! What great customer service.

5.0 out of 5 stars Plug & Play with Linux and Windows 7 11 Nov 2013
Verified Purchase
I plugged it in to PCs with Linux and Windows 7 and it works perfectly without any set-up or installation. On Linux it uses the rt2800usb module which is built-in to the mainline kernel. There is no need to use the provided installation CD.

Reception seems good, decent speed and signal strength and it detects networks I haven't seen before. My wi-fi router is at a diametrically opposite position in the house from where I am using the TurboTenna. Previously with my old wi-fi card YouTube videos would start buffering and drop in to low-resolution mode all the time, but I don't have that problem any more. Positioning seems to matter, it works best for me near the window.

This product is essentially a USB Wi-Fi dongle attached with velcro to a high-gain antenna. Theoretically you could disconnect the provided dongle and connect a different one to the antenna. It comes with a long USB extension cable so you have a lot of flexibility in where you can position it. The only minus point is the little tripod it comes with takes a bit of persuasion to stay upright but it looks like you can plug in any standard camera tripod in the screw mount.

5.0 out of 5 stars Yagi High Power WiFi Antenna 2200mW 6 Dec 2013

This is a nice bit of kit! Measures about 12" long. Pulls in lots of AP's. I use it with Backtrack 5, no problem. I have lots of different aerials an this one is easy to carry. Not as long range as my TP-Link parabolic but is easy to have with you! Works straight out of box. Plug in and off you go! Does all as my ALFA does....

5.0 out of 5 stars 3 years on, still going strong. 6 May 2014

I left a review for this somewhere, when I first bought it in 2011.

There was a slight dent in the legs of the stands, and I mentioned that in my otherwise positive review.

A few days later, a new stand arrived in pristine condition.

TurboTenna are great, I have never heard of any other company providing service like that!

The actual product is great, does what it says and has lasted 3 years so far with no signs of problems.

5.0 out of 5 stars good connection over >1000m 4 Sep 2013

I bought this to be able to connect to far away free networks (i.e. using the restaurant, bar, store I can spot from the balcony to get online while waiting for DSL connection to be activated). The antenna does this job very well. discovered networks went from around 10 to around 90 and you can sustain a good connection with decent speed over distances of well over 1 km even if there are some obstacles (trees etc.) in the way.

5.0 out of 5 stars Unbelievable 23 July 2013
Verified Purchase
I saw this demonstrated on the "GADGET SHOW" on television by Jason. I was stunned by the presenters claims and in the products ability to pull in Wi-Fi weak signals.

Deciding that this was exactly what I had been searching for to be able to obtain a reliable WiFi signal in all parts of my house as well as the remote workshop at the fairest part of the garden; I ordered direct from Amazon.

Well I certainly wasn't disappointed. Firstly although I am quite computer savy I didn't need any technical ability to set it up; just simply load the installation CD and install the driver (remember to do this BEFORE plugging it in) then once loaded simply plug into any spare USB port and hey presto away you go.

I can't praise this product enough; or the company; or indeed Amazon itself. Thank you all
