4.0 out of 5 stars TurboCAD Delux 17 3 Aug 2010
Having used AutoCad 2000 for some years now I was forced, by virtue of Windows 7 (and cost), to buy another Cad package. It has taken no time at all to convert and if anything I find TurboCAD as good as my old AutoCad. In time I hope to learn the 3D side and look forward to producing some great drawings.
Ideal for the hobby draughtsman and beyond. Easy to learn and use with some very good features, nice price too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic product 23 Aug 2010

I purchased this as I had used an early version of Turbo Cad (V3) many years ago and been impressed but was totally unprepared for just how good this latest version really is.
It seems to do just as much as Autocad but at a fraction of the price and I think is actually easier to use, and the tuturials on the disk make it very easy to learn even for a beginner.

2.0 out of 5 stars TurboCad 3D? 8 Jan 2011
Verified Purchase
Very disappointed this was not what I was looking for, I wanted a 3D building drawing/modelling package this clearly is not, although capable of some 3D work it will not reproduce the type of 3D drawings I was after and also will not import Sketchup files as stated, also unneccessarily complicated to use and buggy with windows 7, use 0f 3D in advertising information is misleading and unable to get a response from customer support.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great software at a very affordable price! 22 Jan 2012
Verified Purchase
Just like some other reviews I was also pushed into buying a CAD alternative. I was a user of ProgeCAD Smart (a free AutoCAD alternative), however, with a PC upgrade to Windows 7 x64, the current version of ProgeCAD Sart will not work. There are a few work arounds for it on the Windows 7 platform, but it's just not very stable and kept crashing.

So looking for something affordable (bearing in mind the previous software I used was free), I opted for this version of TurboCAD. I had previously picked up a copy whilst brousing in PC World, however, I just didn't think it would be able to function as well as my current software, and put it back on the shelf.

Overall, the installation is very easy, just pop it in and go! From the installation menu there are lessons and videos you can view. But if you're a CAD user already they're a bit of a waste of time. There is a little getting started booklet contained within the box, but it's all pretty obvious.

The hardest thing to get to grips with is the interface. It's more based on a Windows program than any other CAD software that I've used. There's no command line, which can be a bit tricky to get your head around when your used to typing commands, but after a few hours use it's fine.

The tool bars are customisable, which is handy if you use a lot of a certain range of commands. The commands are essentially the same as those in AutoCAD and ProgeCAD, the only real difference is you need to know what the pictures for them look like and where they are within the menus (again this makes the customisable tool bar very handy).

I'm not a 3D user so I cannot comment on it's ability to render, but I'm finding the 2D elements very user friendly.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent purchase 26 Feb 2011
By Geoff
Having retired two years ago as an engineering tool designer, using various releases of Autocad for the previous 11 years, I was desperate to find a reasonably priced alternative. I purchased Turbocad and am well pleased in terms of it's ability and value for money. It is very similar to Acad and most suitable for the engineering and woodwork projects that I am now involved with.
I have not yet tried to use 3D so all my comments are based on convential 2D drawings.
The software was very easy to load using the wizard. The 'Getting Started Guide' is sufficient to learn the very basics. However you do need the on-line guide as this is much more detailed (726 pages). The only snag with the on-line guide is that you need to use the right phrase for your question, you may need to use another phrase, but the guide is all interconnected and cross referenced. If I was asked, I would certainly recommend this product to someone with moderate financial constraints.

1.0 out of 5 stars TurboCAD DeLuxe 17 2D/3D CAD 26 Jan 2011
By Martin
Verified Purchase
I purchased this as the information on the TurboCAD UK site clearly stated that it was capable of all architectural operations - walls, roofs, windows, doors etc and I wanted to produce a 3D model of my house to design an extension. The product is incredibly difficult to operate and totally counter intuitive. I bought CAD Fundamentals 3D training CAD Fundamentals 3D Training for TurboCAD (PC DVD)which was equally obtuse and found that TurboCad would not even repeat the exercises as shown in thetraining CD. What is worse, once purchased, I found that TurboCad deluxe is completely incapable of the most basic functions of drawing walls and adding roofs, for which you have to buy the much more expensive Pro and door and window functions are not available at all in deluxe and only in full in the platinum version. I strongly recommend that you do not purchase this product if you are looking for a tool for architectural drawing.

4.0 out of 5 stars So far a hit 20 Dec 2010

I bought this for my daughter, who is very into computer graphics...so decided to find her a proper program to show her how to do it. She's just turned 13, so too young to take a proper course and thought this might be a good alternative. She really loves it so far. Has been making 3d pictures with reflective surfaces and all sorts. I only gave 4 stars, as it says it comes with video tutorial, which was part of why I chose this one, but it doens't come with it ON the disk, sends you to a d/l on the makers' site, but then the only d/l you see is for an update. I emailed their support, asking where the d/l were located that it says it comes with as I couldn't locate them on the site, and they sent me the link to some general ones, and wanted to know which tutorials I was looking for, even though I said the ones listed on the package of the software. So that marked off a star. But otherwise, seems like a good program, though I have nothing to compare it to, admittedly.
