If you are looking for a priveleged insight into what life was like in Deiya in heady times gone by this book will be somewhat of a disappointment. William Graves "Wild Olives" is better written and more engaging in this regard. I am sure however that many will find the anecdotes of the very colourful characters and musicians who escaped to Deia during this period worth the purchase.

I love this book. It covers so much ground it could spawn many topics for discussion. I love the writing style and he gives so much of the history and culture it is fascinating. I have been reading it very slow as I dont want it to end.
