Beautiful and Modern Lords of the Rings wedding/engagment ring bands with high quality 14K gold plated. Made of genuine Tungsten Carbide Metal. Mens and Ladies bands are sold separately. Tungsten carbide in wedding rings is fast becoming popular due to its lustrous colour that polishes to an attractive mirror finish, and because the metal is incredibly hard - the hardest to be used in jewellery. Tungsten carbide is incredibly hard, so it's used across different industries where a metal is needed that withstands wear and tear. It's used in surgical instruments, farriery and skis.
I just have to write a review for this ring because it truly deserves a more in depth look. "The One Ring - Tungsten Carbide 18k Gold Plated". (Size S 8mm Band) brought as wedding ring.
I consider myself a shopper who likes something to look perfect and be good and reasonable value for money often worrying about paying too little for something of poor quality. There are so many different styles of rings and materials to choose from and with reviews sparse I decided to settle on this one and I have no regrets being a LOTR fan!
The Seller 5/5 I purchased this ring from Fair Price Mall Ltd, in size S with a 8mm band on Sunday the 17th February 2013, it was dispatched the following day Monday the 18th and arrived in my hands via Royal Mail 2nd Class Recorded Delivery on the Thursday 21st Februry. Free Postage and Packing.
The ring arrived packaged inside a white almost A4 size jiffy bag and inside was the invoice and a black thick cardboard ring box with silver borders around it contained inside a cardboard sleeve.
After slipping the ring box out the sleeve and opening it, I found the ring inside a small reseal able plastic bag with the letter "S" on (ring size) nestled between the two ring band cushions.
A point lost because I believe rings should be sent in small cardboard outer packaging, as opposed to jiffy bags.
The Ring 5/5
I mean WOW! I had reservations after reading other reviews for rings sold by different sellers saying that the ring had half the inscription on the outside and half inside which made me worry slightly, as I didn't want half a plain band oh boy was I glad to be happy when I saw it.
I went for the 8mm band option as I wanted something chunky on my finger that I could feel, my finger is size "S" and the ring weighed in at a hefty 15grams you really can feel the weight to it, it feels absolutely premium in the hand.
The etching (lazer) looks crisp and every word is as it should be checking the inscription on the LOTR Wiki page it reads: Ash nazg durbatulūk, ash nazg gimbatul, ash nazg thrakatulūk agh burzum-ishi krimpatul.
When translated English these words read: One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them, One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them.
This entire quote is laser etched around the entire outer band and inner band of the ring not half inside an half outside as some other rings seem to do. My only gripe is I would have preferred a plain inner band to be true to the original ring.
The finish is immaculate and polished to a high mirrored finish I was worried about the gold plating but doing a scratch test with a sharp needle it remained unmarked so whether or not it is true gold 18k plating I will never know unless I have it examined but for the price I paid I doubt it.
The inscription itself is clear to read but light it does not stand out vividly nor is it too difficult to see when on, for most the perfect balance maybe if it was a little darker? But that is down to personal preference.
Being Tungsten Carbide the hardest metal next to diamonds the ring should be impervious to scratches and the mirror finish should never dull or mark but only time shall tell and I can't wait to update those who are reading this after 6-12months of ownership.
Conclusion TOP MARKS 5/5
I brought this ring a wedding ring (for myself) its mirror finish, weightyness and etching alone has completely sold me, anybody with any concerns should not be fazed or worried for one second if you are thinking of buying this ring, I give it top marks all around.Read more ›
Broad (the 8mm version), perfect gold plating. The lovely inner and outer inscription is neither too glaring nor hard to see. It's nicely heavy too, so if you're looking for The One Ring, this one works well.
Quick delivery, took just about less than a week to arrive. Very nice, good size and nice full-round inscription. The 8mm thickness is the best option in my opinion. Gives an extra nice heavy feel to it.
