Tunes of Glory is an 'old' British film of the highest calibre. The outstanding acting produced by both Alec Guinness and John Mills is a joy to behold. The tension of the story is played out beautifully by the main characters building to an almost unbearable crescendo of emotion and pain. To say more would spoil the exquisite plot.
A very young Susanna York shows her early promise as an actress in the making.
The backdrop of a granite cold, snowy, army barracks in Scotland with pipe music adding to the flavour makes the production atmospheric and authenticates the story and the players. Not to be missed!
