Set in the 1950s, the film stars Keanu Reeves as Martin Loader, a young newswriter for a struggling local radio station which, in an attempt to boost its ratings, has just taken on an eccentric new scriptwriter, Pedro Carmichael (Peter Falk), to write a daily soap opera. Simultaneously, Martin's aunt Julia, not related to him by blood, returns home after two divorces and many years away, and Martin finds himself falling in love with her. When Pedro finds out about their blossoming romance, he starts using it as creative fodder for his drama series - and it isn't long before Julia and Martin are hearing every detail of their 'fictionalised' affair broadcast to the entire region. ...Tune in Tomorrow ( Aunt Julia and the Scriptwriter ) ( Tune in Tomorrow... )

5.0 out of 5 stars ALBANIANS BEWARE!, 24 Feb 2002
By Nettie
I love this movie! It's a fine comedy.

I love the romance, the schemes and betrayal, the surrealism of the piece.

Keanu is very good as the clean cut, aloof, yet smitten 'young man'. I especially like the 'dream sequence' with the jealous rage and torment .

Peter Falk does a good turn as Carmichael. He does very good accents. The animal jokes were great.

The Albanian jokes are weird, but hilarious. For example 'You're driving like a one armed Albanian with crabs'. It works though.

A classic film for any fans collection and the boppy soundtrack is a must too.

I had just read the book by Mario Vargas Llosa and I must say I laughted a lot watching the movie. Although the story was changed a bit from the book I think it worked well. I liked the cast, Peter Falk is hilarious and the chemistry was good between Keanu Reeves and Barbara Hershey.
It was funny to see the radio actors who played all the characters in the radio play, and how they switched from real life to the stories in the radio play.

4.0 out of 5 stars Creditable Movie of a Genius Novel 9 Nov 2010
Format:DVD|Amazon Verified Purchase
Don't expect a faithful translation of Vargas-Llosa's brilliant novel. That is on so many levels and is so full of incident that it could probably only be faithfully represented by a 6-part TV movie.

But this is a most enjoyable movie in its own right and has 3 superb leading players.

If you're a Vargas-Llosa disciple, you'll have this in your collection anyway. If you love involved comedy dramas, as a 1950s pastiche, then buy this and enjoy.
