If you are looking for really detailed, comprehensive information about the history and/or cultivation of tulips, this is not the book for you. (These issues ARE addressed, just not at any great length.)
On the other hand, if you simply adore tulips; are looking for ideas about which bulbs to buy; and love fine photography, then this book is a sumptuous feast.
The author has chosen her favourite tulips and written a brief but informative paragraph about each of them on the page opposite to Clay Perry's photograph of it. It is the photography which really makes this book: after all, if one is going to invest money in bulbs, one would prefer something better than the rather murky thumbnails which most of the bulb-sellers' websites provide.
The book is beautifully-designed: small, compact, almost square, it's a pleasure in the hand as well as to the eye.
