Mega Construction: Seven Rows of Stitching Each toy’s seven layers of material are sewn together with two rows of linear stitching and two rows of cross stitching. The four rows of stitching are protected with an industrial grade luggage material that is sewn 3 more times. Seven Layers of Material Three layers of 600 Denier industrial grade material, three layers of plastic coating and finally one layer of soft fleece. All seven layers are rolled together and then sewn with a one inch cross pattern to prevent layer separation. Protective Webbing Additional industrial grade luggage material is sewn around the outside edge with three rows of stitching to cover and protect the first four rows of stitching. Squeaker Safety Pockets Each Squeaker is safe and quiet because they are sewn into a nylon safety pocket beneath seven layers of material. These toys are machine washable (air dry) and float.

All Tuffy's are rated on an Tuff Scale by the manufacturer. These toys will withstand tugging and fetching games, but won't not be suitable for a dog that likes to chew. These tough SOFT toys are designed for interactive play, tougher than the average soft toy but they are not chew toys nor they are indestructible. No dog toy is.
If it's given to a young dog, who is still in their chewing phase, then the puppy will most definitely pull the toy apart very quickly. Similarly a dog who simply likes to pull things apart, will find a way into a Tuffy's toy.
Taking the toy away at the first sign of the dog trying to do damage, can extend the life of the toy.
Tuffy's toys do have several layers, so the best way to preserve the toy for longer is to remove it from the dog as soon as you see he's starting to chew or tear into it. Trim back any loose bits off the toy and re-introduce at a later date, but always supervise the dog's play with a Tuffy's toy

If you have a dog with the chewing capability of "Jaws" out of the James Bond films then this mega tuff toy is the one to get. The little sewn loop that seems to be attached to all Tuffy toys doesn't last 5 minutes so my advice would be to cut it off before giving the toy to your dog. Our dog normally makes short work of most dog toys so I now only buy Tuffy grade 10 and these certainly stand up to a lot of activity!

Still holding up well after 2 labs and 5 months!

Our 2 labs love the Tuffy Mega Square dog toy. They've been playing with it regularly since December and it's still holding up well. They even play tug of war with it. I'd recommend this product.
Not so tough

Well we got 2 days before my dog (border collie/shepherd mix) had a hole in it. The girl at the store where I bought it told such great stories about it I thought it would last at least a week. But nope. Actually only a couple hours of play time before there was stuffing on the floor. Don't waste the money if your dog is one who likes to pull his or her toys apart.
$16 and only lasted 5 minutes. Not happy.

I got this toy yesterday within 5 minutes of giving my 10 month old pit bull mix, he had the black corner stitching eaten through. The toy is essentially unusable now because if I give it back to him, all he will do is focus on tearing the hole bigger. A waste of $16.
For a toughness scale 10 out of 10, I would have thought it would have lasted at least a week.
I'm very disappointed and am contacting Amazon and Tuffy's regarding this.
