Okay, you now own your wonderful kindle 3, which feels about as flimsy in your hand as a sheet of paper, and for some reason, a little slippery. So you want a case.
Well, look no further. I already had this style of case from Tuv-Luv for my Sony (Sony PS600 used for editing) and waited the extra month for one of these for my Kindle, as they are quite simply the best.
The real winner for me is the flip out stand at the back, which sits it on any flat service like a picture frame. So you're almost totally hands free. I use it like this a lot.
The Tuf Luv case is very sturdy and the design on the front is a very nice touch considering the price. Holding the kindle to read while in the case is somehow very re-assuring and comfortable. the flip over front cover is thick so your never worried about damage to the screen while its in your bag.
The very small caveat? Although the kindle is a nicely snug fit in the case, there is a popper style latch at the top to stop the kindle sliding out. The position of this means in certain lighting it sometimes casts a shadow over the top 1cm of the screen, making the first line or two troublesome to read. I don't think it needs the latch to be honest as although the kindle can ride up a few mm the design means it would never fall out unless you were reading upside down and then its such a good fit that would be hard. I have been tempted to cut off the latchy thing but am only sometimes aware of it.
Don't let this put you off. I tried several cases for the Sony (this is the only one I brought for the Kindle) and the Tuf Luv ones are by far the best looking and most functional.
UPDATE: Dec 2010. Okay, so in the end, despite the popper not really impacting my day to day reading experience, I decided to cut it off to see what would change. My opinion is that Tuf-Luv will stop manufacturing these with the popper because it isn't needed. The kindle is in no danger of falling out without a popper (riding up by no more than a few milemetres without it) and now I have the benefit of not having the occasional shadow on the screen. I do still have the nipple bit of the popper on the case but never notice it. Still my favourite cases by some margin. Hope the update was helpful.
