Product Description

First love. Second chances. Secrets with the power to change lives.

When Will Kincaid’s professional football career comes to an abrupt end in a single night, he’s left to figure out what he’s going to do with the rest of his life. He heads home to the small Virginia town where he grew up and crosses paths with Hannah Jacobs, the only girl in high school who had ever rejected him. It’s Hannah who once made him question the choices he had made, and it’s Hannah who’s making him question them all over again. But with the weight of a secret he’s managed to hide from the world his entire adult life hanging over him, he can’t afford to question his choices.

Hannah Jacobs had once made the choice to deny her feelings for Will Kincaid, at the time finding it the only possible option for a young girl intent on burying a nightmare she only wanted to forget. The life she’s made for herself as a librarian in Lake Perdue is a quiet one, and she’s hardly prepared for the day when Will rams his fancy Ferrari into her dependable old clunker. But for Hannah, Will Kincaid can only stir up memories she had long ago put away forever. And there’s nothing at all good that can come from bringing them back to life again.

About the Author

Award winning, Bestselling author Inglath Cooper was born in Virginia. She is a graduate of Virginia Tech with a degree in English. She has written ten published novels and one novella. She fell in love with books as soon as she learned how to read. "My mom read to us before bed, and I think that's how I started to love stories. I think I read most of the books in my elementary school library." That love for books translated into a natural love for writing and a desire to create stories that other readers could get lost in, just as she had gotten lost in her favorite books. Her stories focus on the dynamics of relationships, those between a man and a woman, mother and daughter, sisters, friends. They most often take place in small Virginia towns very much like the one where she grew up and are peopled with characters who reflect those values and traditions.

5.0 out of 5 stars A slow burning toe curling, wonderful romance 23 Sep 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
I adored this book. Will Kincaid, American sports star with a busted knee comes back to his small country hometown with a secret to keep and an urge to lick his wounds, and try to unpick his future plans from the jumble in his brain.

Hannah Jacobs, wallflower librarian and local girl meets Kincaid as they have a minor car accident, but they have already met, over ten years ago in high school. But what happened? And why did she date Tom, the now local Sheriff and break Will's heart, but then never date again?

This book is stupendous, beautiful and engaging from the off. You can see the two protagonists are made for each other as the reader, the whole town can, but they dance around each other, their baggage, pride and fear keeping them apart till the very end. Add to this - secrets, family issues and a big old punch-up and you have yourself a corking book that would easily make a blockbusting film. I for one would go watch it, and buy the DVD, and make all my friends watch it. This book is what romance should be, entwined with real feelings, real life and roses blooming. Hats off to the author, best book I have read in a while.

This book is available now on Kindle from Amazon for £1.49. Bargain!

3.0 out of 5 stars The truth is... 15 Jan 2012

3 Stars because I "liked it" but wasn't in love with it. The book was on an Amazon recommendation list and only cost 99 cents for my Kindle. Oh and it's PG, not a typical romance with "throw me down" love scenes. I really liked that it was PG.

Overall, the writing is excellent and the book was edited well. The flow of the book is steady and though the perspective changes between Will and Hannah pretty consistently, it's easy to follow and in tune with the rhythm of the story. It's tough because it's not that I didn't like the storyline it's just that it was so... ordinary. Ordinary makes it easy to read and easy to relate to but also makes it forgettable. I was waiting for a big explosion but it never came.

Honestly, this book does have the power to do good in someone's life if you've had the same challenges. The moral of the story comes down to following your heart, opening up on your life struggles, and having the strength to overcome those struggles. If you do those things, it will lead to your own happily ever after.

4.0 out of 5 stars Well done! 19 Oct 2011

Will Kincaid returns home to Lake Perdue following his successful, career-ending play in the Super Bowl. He's never prepared for anything but football and at 29 has no idea of what's next for himself. He runs into Hannah Jacobs, a young woman he once cared a lot for and who now bears no resemblance to the vibrant woman he once knew, inside and out.

This is a story of two people trying to find their way and themselves after experiencing traumatic events. Hannah and Jacob somehow find a way to reconnect but their romance is hampered by the events from their past that are alive and unwell in the present. Theirs is a sweet relationship that struggles to survive while they attempt to help one another and figure out how to heal on their own. While their romantic interludes are sexy, the details are left to your imagination.

Will is an honorable and extremely likable character who you want to succeed in this relationship. Hannah, however, has so much self loathing it is sometimes tough to stay sympathetic to her plight. She redeems herself near the end but it was rough going at times. It's a well written story of setbacks and triumph, told realistically with sensitivity. The secondary characters are interesting and consistent with a small-town environment (no secrets in this place!).

I enjoyed the book as it was very interesting with a strong storyline and good dialogue. It's well-paced, although it dragged somewhat near the end, but not enough to alter my rating.

(I was provided a copy of the book by the author for review.)

5.0 out of 5 stars Get lost in a good story 22 Jan 2012

I really enjoyed this book. I needed an escape and this was the best way to do it! I enjoyed the twists and turns in the story and loved watching the two characters come out of their self imposed shells of protection. Each chapter pulled me deeper into the story and I was rooting these two characters on in hopes that they could have their happy ending!
