Product Description

(Previously published as The Passionate Italian.)

Passion wasn't high on Rose's agenda growing up in poverty: survival was, independence was, but not the crazy, elemental passion that she'd found with Giovanni Visconti. But, after a year together, the passion had twisted into jealousy and control and Rose had disappeared--seemingly unable to deal with her husband's passionate nature.

But, two years later, Giovanni tracks Rose down. He's discovered something that makes him realize that there was more to Rose's departure than he'd first thought, and he's determined to control his jealous passions in order to prove to his wife that she can trust him. But Rose is keeping secrets from him--secrets with the potential to destroy more than just their relationship...

2.0 out of 5 stars Was this the same book? 4 Jan 2012

I am not sure that I was reading the same book as the other reviewers. Rose was so wishy-washy. "I don't need him, I can't live without him, I'll seduce him. I don't need him." Over and over and over. There was not much communication between the couple. "I'll keep one little secret. He won't find out. It is for his own good." Really? Do people really think like that? Growing up a bit would probably help that. This book really reminded me of the Harlequin romances that were published in the '70s and '80. The only thing that changed was that people had cell phones and laptops. Oh, a billionaire in the twenty first century who cannot use a computer? Seriously? I give it two and a half stars because...well, I'm not sure. Maybe because it brought back memories of the first romances I ever read.

2.0 out of 5 stars Disapointed 9 Jan 2012

I was really disapointed after reading this book. The ending was not what I thought it would be. Her husband learned of her being atacked by his brother and was mad with her for not telling him. Which I can understand from his point of view, but she was attacked again and he turned his back on her. Then leaves her for three days. On the other hand, She completely drags on the secret forever. Gets mad at him for finding out about what happened to their baby, and bringing her back to Italy without her knwoing. When it should be his right to do so because the baby was his too. They both played eachother like a fiddle. I expected it to be more passionate and caring for one another. Not lets see how long I can use him/her. The title is "The Passioante Italian". I wasn't expecting this kind of story line. Plus the ending threw me for a loop, when he deserts her and she leaves without a trace. Then He "happens" to "stumble" upon the very place she'll be? Seriously? I would've enjoyed that part if it were a different plot. The only thing you get from this book is an emotional rollercoaster of do I love him? I want him, does he care for me? doesn't he want me? And it's over and over agian, they come close to being with eachother then all of a sudden despise one another for not caring. This book was free so I can't complain much. But then again some of those free books were actually ten times better.

4.0 out of 5 stars Starts out hot and keeps on going 6 Jan 2012

This book starts out hot and keeps on going. I was thouroughly impressed from beginning to end. I really give it a 4.5 stars and would highly highly recommend it to those that love that take charge kind of guy that knows what he wants and goes for it. The writing was done really well, the cover completely drew me in. Rose leaves Giovanni, then finds out she started a business so buys her partner out with a stipulation that he gets her too. Yummy. I love the fact that Rose was very poor and raised in bad circumstances because I love a man that comes in and rescues his maiden. This book was excellent, had all of the elements that I truly love, and I will certainly keep looking for more books from this author. My list gets longer and longer daily because I have found some amazing new authors. Great book. You will miss out if you don't read this one, especially if you are a lover of the older harlequin books. I've found that a lot of the new stuff these days are just to tame for me, but thats my personal taste.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not so passionate 10 Aug 2012

Even though I was disappointed with the book overall, I did like the characters and there were moments in the book that were lovely, but there were so many problems that it was hard to appreciate them.
There is a lot of story here that is only hinted at while the characters ever-vacillating emotions were used as filler crowding out what would have been more interesting, like more of the backstories for each of them before they met and for the beginning of their relationship. Sometimes it was hard to follow the leaps in emotions.
I did not buy the reason Rose did not tell Giovanni about the pregnancy while she was actually pregnant. Then when she is injured severly enough only hours before she is due to see her beloved husband for the first time in 4 months that she loses the child, she just disappears from his life. Did he call any hospitals to see if she had been in an accident? Why does he just accept what his low-life scum of a brother who he knows to be low-life scum says? Also, I am pretty sure Rose was both 36 weeks and 7 months along when she was attacked and lost the baby.
When Giovanni actually interrupts his brother attacking and attempting to rape Rose he gets all upset with her because she did not tell him about the previous attack and now he never wants to see her again. Really? Gee, I wonder why most victims of sexual assault have a hard time talking about it? Maybe the fact that your wife disappeared for two years should have been your first clue that it was a little bit upsetting to her.

drain from her face. She shifted to face the woman. “What?” she practically shouted. “His wife left him—had enough of his jealous ways—rumor has it that he was violent towards her.” Rose shook with anger. “That’s nonsense. Rumor-mongering rubbish.” “Pretty spot "e;
