I have thought about buying a wireless mouse for my laptop for a while now. However, I was put off from buying by a wireless mouse that I had bought for my desktop a few years ago (the mouse in question had bad reception and poor battery life).
I eventually took the plunge and bought the Trust MI-4930Rp.
There were a lot of wireless mice(??) out there to choose from but I did not want anything too grand. Just something straight forward.
The pack contains the mouse, the micro USB receiver, CD with software, user guide and battery for the mouse. I like the idea that you can store the USB receiver inside the mouse which effectively turns the mouse off and increases battery life when not in use.
The USB receiver installed on my Vista laptop with no hiccups at all. In fact it only took seconds to install. The mouse is usable straight away without the software being installed. However, I am sure that if you want to get full benefit from the mouse and its settings/buttons you will probably have to install the software.
As it stands, the mouse is very comfy to use and the reception seems good so far (although I have not tested it to the advertised 8 metre range yet!! The movements seem smooth and immediate - no delays.
The mouse has 5 buttons and the scroll wheel can be used to scroll horizontally or vertically.
I am not sure what the battery life will be as I have not had the mouse that long, but with the ability to turn off the power it should help extend the life of the single AA battery that is required. On top of that AA batteries are not that expensive to buy.
Overall I am happy with this purchase and would recommend it.
EDIT - I have now been using this mouse for a few weeks. The actual mouse is fine however there was a driver issue on my Vista laptop. It kept giving me a blue screen and then restarting. Vista tracked the problem to the mouse driver and directed me to a site to download and install another compatible driver. Since downloading this driver I no longer have the blue screens and the restarts.
Overall I am still very happy with this mouse. Its comfy to use and works well. Just watch out for the driver issue if you get one!!
