Product Description

Review

His work reflects a magical time when stars allowed access and PRs hadn't invented photo approval. --The Word

Product Description

Legendary American photographer Jim Marshall has documented the world's greatest musicians since the late Fifties. His unique style and fearless approach gained him unlimited access to everyone from Miles Davis to Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan and The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, The Rolling Stones, The Who and John Coltrane, right up to recent sessions with Velvet Revolver. Jim was the official photographer at the Monterey and Woodstock Festivals, the only photographer at the famous Johnny Cash San Quentin concert and at The Beatles final performance at Candlestick Park in San Francisco in August 1966. His work appears on over 500 album covers and many of his iconic photographs have become part of rock 'n' roll history. Now for the first time, photographs from Jim's extensive colour archive are published in book form, offering a fresh insight into the work of this renowned photographer and a new look at some of the great figures in music history.

look at before buying 23 Jan 2011
Format:Hardcover
While many of the photos in this book are great, they are generally too small in size usually less then 24.5cm (L) x 19cm (W) or in some cases badly positioned i.e. over two pages (Bobby Womack, Who etc) spoiling the image and reducing its impact. I would definitely suggest having a look through a 'real' copy before purchasing unless you have the time etc to return it if you agree with me.
