I got one of these to read SIM cards. Tried putting the card in with the diagonal notch first (like memory cards). It seemed to stop against some sort of barrier but did not work. Read the manual on the CD card which said look at the leaflet which appeared to suggest that the SIM should be inserted with the notch facing outwards. So I tried that. SIM card went straight in, into the inside of the device. I had to peel the label off, undo two screws, take a lid off and lever up the circuit board before I could get my SIM back. There is a white line printed on the circuit board to tell you how far to insert the card, but unfortunately this is not visible from outside the device.
The protective cap for the USB connector was split too. Have a look at the photos I have uploaded.
The SIM reader works with Windows XP (but not with WINE).
It is not entirely clear which categories of txt messages the software shows. The messages it displayed to me contained a large number with garbage in them, which could have been unused memory or messages in a foreign script. It can't show messages from the Outbox on my Nokia.

No I have not got mixed up and reviewed a medicine. However this product is packed in the usual inaccessible sealed plastic with a helpful cut here line. Unfortunately the mini Cd with the software on it can slip up and be under the cut here line so shake it down before cutting or no software.
This is a card reader that has the capabilities (once the software is loaded)to copy between cards, save to PC edit the numbers either directly on the card or on the stored folder on the PC. It will also synchronize to outlook.
The software has a simple interface and does not need the comprehensive instructions contained on the CD in PDF format.
I have copied SIM cards from Motorola, Nokia and Seagam phones 100%. The only possible disadvantage is that the files stored on the PC require the provided software to be able to load them, so if you have kept a back up on a memory stick be sure you have access to the software if you want to manipulate it.
The other bonus with this product is that it doubles as a card reader however the 39 in 1 quoted on the packaging is a bit of poetic license as it list all the variations of SD and memory stick cards which does to be fair include all the small and micro versions including TF. But no CF or XD card slots, the XD slot would be useful as it is the preferred choice for Olympus cameras.
Overall a reliable SIM card reader which is well worth the money if you only use it to back up SIM cards in case you lose your phone.

I bought this to manage the SIM contacts and text messages (I already have a card reader for those cards that I use). It deals with the contacts ok but the handling of text messages is completely haphazard. It does not recognise messages in the 'sent' box at all, and just picks an apparent random selection from the 'In' box (limited to 20, but it has never found even that many so far).
It may be perfectly ok as a card reader (not tested), but if you are looking for a comprehensive SIM card manager you'll have to try elsewhere.

Worked well on my Samsung...o2 SIM Card
I was able to copy all my data into my PC. It was easy to edit and copy back to my original O2 SIM and also a new O2 SIM.
