Trust Me is a fast paced action thriller with a totally unbelievable story line. Karen the heroine of the story is neither credible or likeable and the other characters that weave in and out of the plot line are easily forgotten.

The story is founded on the premise that while being robbed, Karen hires the intruders to do a job for her. She wants to reclaim $300,000 from a previous boyfriend and hires the intruders to help (and then predictably double crossing them).

If you want a beach holiday throw-away read then this book will do, if you want an interesting, character rich story that will lead you through twists and turns of an exciting plot then you may want to give it a miss.

Too lightweight for me 23 April 2010
By S. Diment VINE™ VOICE
Format:Paperback|Amazon Vine™ Review (What's this?)
This is a lightweight, fast-paced American crime thriller, ideal for holiday reading or just escapism, if you like this genre. It would appeal to Elmore Leonard fans (Peter's father) or anyone with a taste for thrillers with the emphasis on action, rather than characters, or a complex plot that keeps you guessing too much.

Sadly, it didn't suit me. I couldn't remember who all the characters were in the first few chapters, as to me there seemed to be little to distinguish many of them apart from their names. None of them seemed particularly real to me either. I sturggled to get interested in the plot, despite the fast pace. I'm sure some readers love a good gangster novel, so don't let me put you off if this is the kind of thing you like to read!

I have loved his dad's books for many years, and whilst not trying to measure the son up against the father I couldn't help think that Dad would never put together such a contrived story. Saying that, I enjoyed the fact that none of the charactors were particularly endearing, in that sense you could concentrate on the story. Unfortunately I found the plot twists and turns a tad confusing, and even going back and rereading some chapters didn't really help. Eventually I just had to put the book down. It has now been sent to the bathroom to be read a chapter at a time, as and when I have the time or inclination. Shame.

Okay Thriller - promoted with hype from the author's father's pals!
I read and reviewed Leonard, jnr's debut novel `Quiver' noting that it was fast-paced, full of low-life characters and snappy dialogue but adding that it lacked an original plot... Read more

Really couldn't hold my interest
I've attempted to read this book a couple of times, but both times it has failed to engage my interest. The plot is improbable and the characters unbelievable. Read more

Peter and Elmore-- how do you tell?
Peter Leonard's "Trust Me" is written in the style of his well known father. They both write succinctly with a great efficiency of words. Read more

Enjoyable all the Way
This book is enjoyable, but not fast paced, but this somehow did not seem to matter. It is nevertheless a well written book which made me want to keep reading long into the night. Read more

Pretty good, pretty fast-paced, but still read better
"Trust Me" isn't the best thriller I've ever read (John Sandford takes that crown), but this is a pretty good one nonetheless. You'll find the writing assured and well-composed. Read more
