I found this book recently whilst on retreat and have read the talks contained within it at least two or three times over the last month. The appeal of this book for me is the very honest approach of the author towards himself and towards Christianity. In the preface he makes it clear that he will only speak of things that he himself has personally experienced, and it is this honesty which distinguishes this book from the large innumberable polemics which I usually tend to associate with Christian writing.
