If you are an aspiring artist who finds it difficult to get going when working at home, because of the awful habit of putting off starting by tending to put all the other daily tasks first, then this is the book for you. It encourages you to loosen up, experiment, explore materials and create images in such a way that you could end up by doing something, however small, every day. It's not a step by step approach, though there are plenty of tips for things to try out. I use a large, square, spiral-bound hardback book for this and it builds into a fat, exciting collection of ideas which have been fun to produce and which often start from something in my everyday life. The book is beautifully produced, containing many photographic images of the art journals of other artists, organised under subject headings, and with lots of comment by L.K.Ludwig and others. For general loosening up and counteracting a possible fear of the blank white page, this is an excellent book and strongly recommended. I love it!
