I have just returned from a family holiday to Cornwall. While at St Micheals Mount, my friend bought this book for me because she knows how crazy I am about dogs. Once I read the story I just had to search for Bilbo and we found him on Sennen Beach doing his job!

This is a lovely story which is great for children because the overall message is SAFETY ON THE BEACH.

Bilbo is a brilliant ambassedor for beach safety. In addition to this, the book contains wonderful photographs making it a piece of art to cherish.

5.0 out of 5 stars He's a true star for the kids on the beach, 6 Nov 2009

I went to Sennen this September and stayed in a campsite just above his RNLI Workshed. Went for a walk one day and discovered that Bilbo had gone on his holidays. What a shame, I would have loved to have met him.

The very essence of this dog is to teach children beach safety and that he does well. What an ambassador for the RNLI he is as he can reach out to the kids as they associate him with pet status, albeit he is 14 stones in weight and much bigger than the average kid on the beach. It's just such a shame that the PC brigade at the local council offices decided to ban him from the beach for 'elf 'n safety reasons. Clever lot these lifeguards, they now take him round on a bilbo sized trailer - still on the beach but not exactly 'on it' and continuing to make his presence felt.

What an amazing animal. I bought this book for two people and both loved it. Great read and fabulous photos. Go buy it!
