Book Description

True Friends is a Story of friendship and loyalty. Rom and Disk are twins who find their loyalty to their friend Printer is tested when he is caught stealing strawberries on a farm. The story challenges us all to consider how easy it is to declare lasting friendship to one another, and demonstrates that it is difficult to show solidarity in the face of adversity.

Synopsis
"True Friends!" is the first of a series of books about twins, Rom and Disk. The series explores various aspects of the twins' lives, their friendships, family and relationships at school. The character's names are all computer related and link the simplicity and fun of the lives of today's young children to the high tech computer age in which they are engulfed. Each story provides a moral, which the reader can take away and reflect upon. In this first book, children will enjoy getting to know Rom, Disk and their good friend Printer and will also be introduced to the school bad boy, Virus. You can anticipate many more adventures in future books.

4.0 out of 5 stars True Friends 27 July 2007
Format:Paperback
I recieved this book as a present for my 3 kids (ages 8,6,5). We sat down and read it together one night and they loved the book. The story has a great truth to it and the characters were very likeable. The kids wanted to know what all the names meant ("whats a virus?") and loved the fact they were talking about computer characters but in a setting they could relate.. They are eagerly awaiting the next installment !

5.0 out of 5 stars Lovely Book 24 July 2007
Format:Paperback
A great story with very good moral message concerning the nature of friendship and integrity. The writing is clear and concise with well defined characters. The story works on several levels and will work in different contexts. I enjoyed reading True Friends (as an adult), and would definately recommend reading this book to children. The illustrations are brilliantly done and illuminate the story perfectly, and the inclusion of a glossary is a great idea and adds to the value of the book. I look forward to reading many more books by Susan Fayinka!

4.0 out of 5 stars Learning without tears 13 July 2007
Format:Paperback
True friends is a delightful tale for young children. It both explains what friendship is all about and gives children and their parents information about computer termonology. The illustrations are fabulous and bring the story to life in ways that capture childrens' imagination.
A extremely helpful glossary is given for us computer nerds
This is the first of a series and I look forward to seeing more and reading them to my children

5.0 out of 5 stars What is friendship? 29 July 2007
Format:Paperback
Friendship is being supportive. When you are in difficulty, your true friend is the one who stick together with you. This book tells the wonderful value of friendship and also tells children that telling the truth after they've done something wrong is being half forgiven... A great book to read in the class and at home, very well written and illustrated.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely brilliant! 22 Feb. 2010
Format:Paperback
Absolutely brilliant, fantastic book for the children. Exceptionally well written with a fresh, unique approach to teaching children values and morals through a thoroughly entertaining, imaginative and educational format. The words are wonderfully enhanced by the colourful and amusing illustrations which help bring the story to life. The idea of using computer terminology is a master stroke and will appeal to older children whilst providing the younger ones with an understanding of the world we now live in. I particularly liked the character of Grandmother-386. I look forward to seeing the next book in the series.

5.0 out of 5 stars True Friends by Susan Fayinka 30 July 2007
By Janet B
Format:Paperback
This is a great little book which is guaranteed to engage the attention of all small children whether they are being read to or embarking on reading their first real books for themselves.

The exploits of the twins Rom and Disk and their more adventurous friend Printer (not to mention the evil Virus) provide an usual and entertaining story with a clear message about the value of true friends.

The book is beautifully produced with delightful colour illustrations provided by the author's brother.

I look forward to the next book in the series.
