A compelling race against time,

I read this after seeing the movie, so the story and the outcome came as no surprise. I was amused by one of the reviews that wondered why it hadn't been made into a movie, given that it has (in the same year as the review).
In many ways the book is better. The movie was uncompromisingly dark whereas here there is some light relief. The author ratchets up the tension very well and if I hadn't seen the movie, I would have felt it even more. Although the story is quite simple - lacking the complexity of David Kessler's [Mercy - it more than holds its own in the pace and tension department.

I really enjoyed this book. Not only was the beginning good but the pace was maintained throughout right to the end. This does not happen very often.

They don't get much better than this - a good plot and you can't help but live the ordeal with the characters. (I had reservations initially believing this was going to be another predictable Death Row story.)Where have I been to have missed Klavan in the past I wondered? I'm normally not shy with words, but enough said on this occasion.
