Fascinating account of a hidden world in our midst, 4 Aug 2008
This is a really interesting book, which takes us inside the head of a man who likes to spank and cane women. All his "victims" are consenting and most of them have a taste for punishment. Sometimes it gets sexual, and he tells us about that (perhaps in a little too much detail for my taste). But often it doesn't, and that's where I found the story most interesting. "Spank Daddy" is the perfect complement, from the male side, to Niki Flynn's "Dances with Werewolves (Memoirs of a Spanking Model)". Peter Jones tells the story from the perspective of a dominant man, while Niki Flynn tells it from the perspective of a submissive woman - but both are intelligent and literate and both are very good storytellers. "Spank Daddy" is told in plain words and is perhaps more visual, with more sexual detail - more male-oriented, in fact - while "Dances with Werewolves" is written in a more literary style and goes further into psychology and the origins of kinky female sexuality. But they both have a fascinating story to tell about the desire to administer and receive punishment. They both describe a subculture that has recently hit the headlines (Max Mosley versus the News of the World) and seems to be much more prevalent than anyone outside it realised. Definitely a pair of books to be read one after the other!

Spanking good fun!, 9 Oct 2008
I've read copious amounts of books dealing with spanking - but generally the subject matter deals with couples, or casual sex buddies at the very least, having some fun and games with one another. On occasion I've read more 'serious' stuff where couples have been heavily into BDSM. But never before have I read a book quite like this one. The subject matter is spanking, yes. Spanking with a difference. Peter Jones is a "spank daddy" which basically means he spanks women for fun. Strangers, or mutual acquaintances, Peter will meet up with these women and fulfil their fantasies of being spanked. Sometimes there is a sexual element to it, and Peter has been known to indulge in some form of sex with the women. On other occasions it has just been a spanking, and that's it. It is simply a hobby. No money changes hands, he just does it because he enjoys it and he's good at it.
Not quite sure how to be good at spanking? No, nor was I, until I read this. Many people classify spanking as either completely hardcore, with whips and canes etc; or the odd playful slap on the arse between lovers. The True Confessions of a London Spank Daddy bridges that gap, not to mention forcing the reader's eyes wide open to a whole world that they'd never otherwise have known about. For Peter does all of this behind his wife's back - he 'works late,' 'does lunch' - all the main excuses that men use when they're misbehaving. But he's not misbehaving in the classic sense of the word. He's not just sleeping with people, he's spanking women so they can't sit down for a few days - often behind their partner's back, too!
This really is an interesting book. The narrative is very matter of fact with few embellishments, but because of the very nature of it I still found it arousing in many places, and I'm sure many other people will too. So read this to find out a little more about what is going on behind those ever-so-respectful looking closed doors you pass in the street. The more I read books like this, the less I believe that people are reading, watching TV or doing housework. I find myself starting to wonder if we're a nation full of kinky buggers. And I mean that in a good way!

A revelation!!, 5 Jul 2008
This is a fascinating book as it reveals a world that is usually hidden. Like many people I was curious about spanking and found this book informative about technique and motivation but also a very sexy read. That may seem strange as he doesn't always have sex with his clients but I think most people would struggle not to find themselves aroused and intrigued by the end of the book.
