True Blood Volume 1 is, in a nutshell, a filler episode of the tv show. Coming in at 115 pages, reading this graphic novel goes by in a flash. You get a little background and a glimpse of some of the characters Pre-Sookie. Add to that a little action and some of Pam's classic snarkiness and you have a pretty good read ahead of you. I really enjoyed it, and I learned a thing or two that I did not know before.
The artwork is somewhat lacking, but overall decent. From the cover, you can clearly tell that the characters are supposed to look like they do on the show, but in some panels the characters do not look like themselves at all.As I am not familiar with the artist's style beyond this book, I can't say for certain if it was meant to happen or not.
Overall, if you are a fan of the True Blood television show and need something to fill the gap between seasons, grab a copy of this graphic novel.
