First off --- ignore the really negative review done by "C. Pusey"! By her/his own admittance she/he has only ever seen the first 3 (!) episodes of the show, and apparently from that she could tell that the entire show - all episodes, all seasons - is bad. Yeah, right.

"True Blood" has got to be among the best vampire shows ever made. It's funny, witty, sometimes violent and bloody, and very sexy. And yes, the "18" rating is deserved due to a few very explicit scenes. This is no "Twilight" --- it's for adults ... ;o)

The acting is very good, and the same goes for the writing and directing. The first two seasons of "True Blood" loosely follow the story from the first 2 books in Charlaine Harris's "Sookie Stackhouse" series. Some changes have been made, but I personally didn't mind. I've read all the books, and I have enjoyed the first two seasons of the show as well (and am looking forward to season 3).

Every season follows one major storyline with many smaller ones thrown in. The characters are likable and original, and the show is just as likely to scare you as make you laugh out loud. There is lots of drama, and some of it is a little outrageous, but hey --- at least the show never gets boring ... :o)

Over the past few years "True Blood" has not only achieved cult status, but has also won several awards (such as a Golden Globe for "Best Actress in a Drama Series" for Anna Paquin), and has been nominated for even more --- including a Golden Globe as "Best Drama Series" (which no other show of this genre has ever managed to achieve).

In the end, you're gonna have to make up your own mind as to whether or not you like "True Blood" --- all I can tell you is that it's definitely worth watching! For me, this is one of my favorite-ever tv-shows, and I'm not even such a huge fan of supernatural television shows ... ;o)

Very Good Series 19 May 2010
Format:Blu-ray
I have just finished watching this boxset and was really glad i has been recommended it. It shows a different light on the genre where people know Vampires exist and how they co-exist with Humans.

The first season won countless awards including a Golden Globe and an Emmy and cause a lot of hype for Season 2. It has recently been confirmed not only that Season 3 will be aired on HBO June 13th 2010 but also that there will be a 4th Season.

Trust me it is worth a look and if your sitting on the fence and wondering what they hype is all about then watch it you wont be disappointed.

NO the series is not for everyone as the very dimwitted view of a certain prior reviewer will show however take it from someone who has actually taken the time to sit and actually watch the product he reviews that for me it was something i enjoyed watching and was glad i brought.

After Reading C.Puseys review i felt compelled to right my own review.

As a big fan of Vampire novels, having read the Vampire Chronicles, Dracula and various other vampire stories i would have to disagree with C.pusey's review.
The script is Original, fresh and well writen, Granted there are some seems that very little happens in but your focus is then drawn to the strong Characters on screen, How someone could fail to be entertained by Lafiette is impossible.

The series is based Loosly on the books by Charlaine Harris but are very different, the series is much darker than the books.

Yes this is vastly different from ever Popular Twilight series, as this is not made for teenage girls but with target audience of Adults and deservedly has an 18 certificate.

There are various bits of Vampire folklore taken from other sources, those familiar with the Anne Rice novels will pick up on this immediatly, but even Charlaine Harris makes constant reference to Anne Rice in the books so that's not surprising.

All in all this is an amazing TV show and well worth a watch whether your a Vamp Fan or just after a fun and entertaining Programe to watch.

As a tv series this is truly bloody brilliant, as a boxed set the packaging could have been a little more special than it is.
