More About the Author

Charlaine Harris was born in Tunica, Mississippi, and raised in the Mississippi River Delta area in the middle of a cotton field. Though her early works consisted largely of poems about ghosts and, later, teenage angst, she wrote plays when she attended Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee and started writing novels a few years later.

After publishing two stand-alone mysteries, Harris launched a light-hearted mystery series 'starring' Georgia librarian Aurora Teagarden. The first of the eight books, Real Murders, was shortlisted for Best Novel in the 1990 Agatha Awards. In 1996, she released the first of the much darker Shakespeare mysteries, featuring the amateur sleuth Lily Bard, a karate student who makes her living cleaning houses.

Charlaine Harris then wrote the first of her Southern vampire mysteries starring Sookie Stackhouse, the quirky, telepathic waitress who works in a bar in the fictional Northern Louisiana town of Bon Temps. Dead Until Dark won the Anthony Award for Best Paperback Mystery. It also won Harris a whole new fan club of devoted readers and pushed her into the bestseller lists. The Sookie Stackhouse series, in which Sookie has to deal with vampires, werecreatures and other supernatural folk - not to mention her own complicated love life - was also instrumental in creating the urban fantasy genre.

Sookie Stackhouse also enchanted Alan Ball, creator of the smash TV show Six Feet Under, who took an option and wrote and directed the pilot episode for True Blood himself. It was an instant hit when it premiered in the US, and that success was repeated when it was first aired in Britain last year. The second season of TRUE BLOOD will start this spring.

Harris's newest series features Harper Connelly, a young woman who, after being struck by lightning, finds herself able to locate the bodies of the dead and to determine the cause of their death. There are four Harper titles (Grave Sight, Grave Surprise, An Ice Cold Grave and Grave Secret).

Charlaine Harris is a member of the Mystery Writers of America and the American Crime Writers League. She is a member of the board of Sisters in Crime, and alternates with Joan Hess as president of the Arkansas Mystery Writers Alliance. She is married, the mother of three, and lives in a small town in Southern Arkansas. When she is not writing her own books, she reads omnivorously!

2.0 out of 5 stars Second book error 20 July 2010
I dont know if it is a regular error in publication with this book but the second book in the series is all jumbled up. Many pages are missing and sections of the book are in the wrong order.

The other 9 books in the series read fine and are very enjoyable for anyone who is into the vamp sci-fi genre. But this fault int he second book stuck in my mind and i am contacting the publishers regarding the issue...

5.0 out of 5 stars Great 22 Dec 2010
I decided to buy this box set because the price was reasonable, and after reading the first book I just wanted to buy them all (I've got to stop doing that). I'm glad I did buy this box set, it came in a good condition; although, the actual box in which the books were put in was a bit damaged when I got it out of the packaging. Putting that aside, the books themselves were in perfect condition and the delivery came a few days early, which was also great. I'm really enjoying the series so far and it's really addictive.

5.0 out of 5 stars A fang-bangers review 20 Jan 2011
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
After I tried reading the first book in the series, I was hooked and decided to start reading them all. I'd borrowed the first two books from my local library and now I own the boxset. It was reasonably priced, especially for the amount of books you get! They're beautifully published and the box set came without any dents from shipping.

If you're a fan of the TV series, I'd recommend you buy this. If you like sexy vampires, shapeshifters and psychics, I'd recommend this. Fans of Laurell K. Hamilton will love this - as I did. Any paranormal romance/dark fantasy geek will love this!

4.0 out of 5 stars Devoured!! 14 Aug 2011

Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Got these after reading the Twighlight books as I really enjoyed the vampire romances:)) these are really good only down side is that they are a bit repetitive with basic facts from the first book. Other than that they are a great read and def X rated if u are thinking of letting your daughter read them!! One last thing is that this is box set 1 not 2!!! Suited me fine but beware if it's box set 2 that u want!!! This isn't it!!

3.0 out of 5 stars Need some clarification! 18 July 2011
The photo that goes with this product shows 10 books, the last of which is "A touch of dead", which is the 11th book in the series.
"Dead in the family" the 10th novel in the series does not appear in the picture.

Can someone confirm what titles we get in the box set please?

5.0 out of 5 stars Ruined my sleep but in a good way 28 Feb 2011
You just wont believe how addictive these books are. The "I'll just finish this chapter" turns in to "just one more chapter" and so on till its 4am, your knackered and dying to start on the next book. Definatly a must by, but a take a week off work first and watch the series, it makes it a whole lot more interesting especially if you're 'Team Eric' ;D

5.0 out of 5 stars Love the books 12 Nov 2012
By Coco
I really love both the books and the show ! And it is important to know that you can read the books even though you've watched the show, because it's not the same story.
I wish they would come with the original front picture, but it's not important though! :)

4.0 out of 5 stars Could you say that again please? 28 July 2011

I read all these books in the space of a week, so they were sort of all merged together-this might be why i found it so irritating when the main character (Sookie) continued to repeat herself. She constantly tells of the plots of the former books, and the problem she has faced-over and over and after a while it just gets boring. I can understand this might be useful if you've had to wait for the next book to be published and need a refresh of the story line so far, but if you've not been with Sookie since the beginning then it's an unwelcome annoyance.

This isn't to say i didn't enjoy the books, they were a pleasant read. but even now (a day after reading the last published book)i don't think i could write an accurate description of what happens. Things seems to muddle together in a big bloody blur. Maybe that's just me :)

worth reading, defiantly.
