What a truly forgettable and bland score for what is supposed to be an epic tale! There seems to be very little grandeur, no sweeping and splendid arrangements, even some of the emotional cues lack passion. In short, I found nothing memorable in the entire score, and it left me with a wholly unfulfilled sensation. My initial response was to never listen to the thing again, however on reflection I thought, "give it a chance" I wish I hadn't. There is nothing about this score that makes me want to subject my ears or my stereo to it. As for all the hype surrounding Gabriel Yared's rejected score, go to his site, and have a listen to the samples - that's how an epic score should sound. Horner did supposedly spend 13 days writing, recording and producing this - I wish he hadn't. The Passion of the Christ is still the best score of the year, get that or look at Horner's earlier works.
