5.0 out of 5 stars A Fresh Look at the Dead, 7 Aug 2007
By Wingrin (Brisbane, Australia) - See all my reviews
This book was refreshingly original. It doesn't analyse the Vampire & Revenant phenomenon through the filter of a 21st century mind. It reports on what went down way back when via sources such as court transcripts & offical church documents. In short it reports on what the people in power truely thought was happening in their era.

Dr Keyworth has also made interesting observations as to how this excitation of the popular imagination continues today but in a continually modifying form. In the past it was physical creatures of the night that roamed the countrysides to scare us while today, in our 'enlightened' world, we hear talk of astral vampires to disturb our dreams.

Truly fascinating.
