Following a clear, concise exposition of the origins of our liberty and the competing political ideologies at work in the West (alone worth the price of the book), William Gairdner provides a comprehensive description and analysis of Canada's particular situation - how we got here, how and why we've gone astray and what we might do about it. He clearly shows how our shift away from founding British conceptions of law and liberty towards statism is eroding our freedom, infantalizing our citizenry and limiting future growth and wealth. It's a must read for all people who value liberty.
