formby at his best. 2 Aug 2006
Format:VHS Tape
this is one of my favourite george formby films, not to mention one of the best comedies of the 30s.

in this one, george is a worker at a major newspaper who stumbles onto a bootlegging racket. fancing himself as a modern day sherlock holmes, he sets out to unravel the mystery.

a load of formby films were shown on t.v between the late 80s to the early 90s; this film was one of the few that i kept once i recorded it.

then suddenly, ten george formby films were released on video several years ago. a godsend to say the least. now they should be issued on d.v.d.

"trouble brewing" has some very good highlights along the way that only george could master, plus some good songs as well.

these films are pretty hard to find now, so treasure them while you can.

Classic Gold 2 Sep 2011

Having purchased this last year, I felt it time to add a review now. For those that do not know this iconic actor/ entertainer his ukelele music is famous and sadly missed on UK television as seldom do his films get an airing. In today's recession hit times with worries abound, this type of film does everything to take you away from those times and for at least an hour and 30 mins you can relax and forget your worries and laugh along at this film.I actually purchesed this to complete a collection of the entertainers films, sadly Feather Your Nest has not been released commerically and is the only one I need to complete the collection fully. However, that said a good addition to the film collection. The film print is beautifully presented with good clear sound and picture.
