This book is a useful, if partial, introduction to the man who committed his life to the emancipation of the working class internationallly. His reward is death at the hands of a Stalinist agent in Mexico just as the Second World War, which he predicted, was to take place and lead to the Cold war in its aftermath.

This book explains clearly the ris and fall, the life and death of a great leader. It is through these kinds of books that legacy can be passed on to future generations.

A typical Tariq Ali book
Being a Trotskyite himself, the book is blatantly biased and sympathetic to Trotsky.
Yet it is at the same time a very concise, informative and entertaining biography of a great, but flawed man who was terribly misunderstood by both his supporters and his rivals.
