Good for sliding a freshly-made or heated-up shop pizza onto, and cutting the pizza on the board. Attractive enough to use at the table. A rolling pizza cutter is best as the board's slight outer lip slightly impedes an ordinary knife, but cheese can stick to an ordinary knife and a rolling cutter seems easier (and maybe more stylish). The outer lip isn't necessary but guards against the pizza sliding off, and in fact the outer lip is part of the visual appeal. The board doesn't have grooves to guide the cutter but doesn't need them - if the cut goes slightly wonky, who notices or cares?
The board's 36cm diameter is a good size for families. Lots of pizza crispers and baking stones are designed for the larger 13inch/33cm, just about the maximum diameter that fits a standard oven.
Well-made, durable, not unusually heavy. I feared making lasting cutting marks on the board, but none are apparent (board's still quite new though). [P.S. 15 months and loads of pizzas later, there are a few minor lasting cutting marks as I tend to cut in about the same place each time. Board still looks good though.] Handwash only.
Liked it so much I sent one as a gift to someone who'd just bought a breadmachine that also makes pizza dough. Many people make more than one family-size pizza at a time - at the time of writing Amazon offer 4 of these boards for one price
SET: 4X Tropic Board - Pizza board - Ø 36,5cm, which should save on buying 4 individually.
