After a nasty incident with a goat, the Troll family are forced to leave there native Norway and make a new home somewhere else. Unfortunately they choose the quiet suburb of Biddlesden. Faced with the prospect of 'Baked Bean' for dinner, and the awful spectre of 'The Shower', things are going to get ugly (and possibly hairy and smelly, too). But worst of all, they are moved next door to the Priddle family. Big mistake.
Alan MacDonald was born in Watford and now lives a stone's throw from the River Trent in Nottingham. After several years in a travelling theatre company, he turned full time to writing in 1990 since when he has published over seventy books for children.
He has written picture books and non-fiction but is probably best known for his comic fiction for younger readers. Recent successful series include Troll Trouble (Bloomsbury) which was optioned for film by Twentieth Century Fox.
Working with award winning illustrator David Roberts, he created the Dirty Bertie books (featuring the world's grubbiest trouble magnet) - which have sold all over the world and number over a dozen books in the series.
When not busy with books, Alan writes for children's TV, working on many popular series such as Horrid Henry, The Tweenies, Boo! and Fimbles.
