Product Description

Cities, towns and villages exist like islands in a green sea, while in the Forest itself live hermits, wizards and all manner of weird and wonderful creatures -- some invented, some strangely familiar. BOOK 3: TROLLOGY A tale in Three Parts, following the misadventures of poor old Bertram -- a troll who's a complete failure as he can't tell chalk from granite, but who discovers a talent for cooking. (His rock cakes are amazing!)

5.0 out of 5 stars Rainy day fun, 11 Aug 2003
I’ve never read one of these books before (and this is the third in the series) and I have to confess I wouldn’t have bothered if it hadn’t been for the fact that we were camping and it was raining. What else is there to do except read? This book came highly recommended by my nine year old, so I gave it a go. What a hoot! It reads like less sophisticated Terry Pratchett, (and I’m one of those sad people who love Terry’s work, but miss half the jokes even when I’ve read the books twice!), so the obvious puns were rather fun. The characters were lovable, Bertram the troll, who loves daylight, and Cliff the lemming who can’t quite bring himself to throw himself off the mountain as a normal lemming would, (should he shout ‘geometry’ as he goes, or was it something else beginning with G?) have to leave the mountain, live with humans, and save the world. Highly recommended for any child who likes humorous stories with heroes, villains, and magic. And if your child prefers you to read to them, then this will enliven the bedtime story hour no end!
