I now have 40 of these Box Sets and most have their own individual merits. So what about this one with Trojan meeting the Beatles? Who comes out the winner? Well, these arrangements of classic tunes I found to be a very uplifting process being as they were both a great listening experience in their own right as well as extending the life of the originals in my mind. No winners or losers, the result a solid home draw! An album to enjoy rather than to compare and review - is that such a bad thing Sir?

for the alton ellis song alone..... 17 Oct 2006

I thought this was a great buy. I haven't heard some of these tracks since I was a kid. A good number of these artists bring on the funk. I love each artist's take on the Beatles. On the 3rd cd Alton Ellis brings the fever. His take on "And I Love Her" is hotter than the Beatles could even imagine. That was the jam back when. Not every song is stellar, but overall I'm happy that I bought it. If you are a Beatles fan who dabbles in reggae, you may not like it. If you are a reggae lover who loves the Beatles you'll dig it. Overall tight collection.

Hit or Miss 30 Aug 2005
By Kris Harvey - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
I bought this 3-disc set because I had heard the first two tracks of Disc 1 while waiting for my drink at a coffee shop and instantly liked it. Unfortunately, those first two tracks ended up being my favorite. The likeability is spotty: only about ten percent of the tracks are truly innovative renditions of the original classics, meaning they are recognizable as Beatles songs, but made to sound more festive by the different spin that the reggae influence provides. I expected this reggae retake to predominate, but many songs don't seem strongly rooted in the genre. Taken as a whole, it's relaxing and fun to listen to, though I would prefer the convenience of a single disc and more of a reggae twist.
