After the huge success with Off the Wall Michael returned to recording with his brothers and the knowledge he gained from qworking with the great quincy Jones certainly paid off. This album reeks with classic R n B/Pop songs from the ambitious but infectious "can u feel it" to the disco funk of "lovely one " and "walk right now". However the stand out track for me is "heartbreak hotel" this is the first glimpse of the evolution of Michael the superstar a haunting but totally original composition it is one of my favourite MJ songs to date. Enjoy as this is one of the best disco albums ever created.

Triumph was The Jacksons 4th album for Epic records. Originally released in 1980 the album was released in between Michaels Off the wall and Thriller albums. This is easily the jacksons best album..period ! the previous epic album "Destiny" saw the boys start to write and produce their own material..some of it succesful and some of it not but it was a worthy effort nonetheless and included the classics blame it on the boogie and shake your body down. Triumph however see the jackson bros fine tune their songwriting and production even further and the album has some of Michaels best songs outside his solo career. Heartbreak Hotel and Can you feel it are as good as anything he wrote and are masterpieces..notably michael performed heartbreak hotel on his bad tour in 1988 which he rarely performed any jacksons songs outside brief medlies. Michael sings lead vocals on all but 2 songs. Other highlights are the funk of "Lovely One" jackie jacksons sublimly written "your ways" "Give it up" and another michael classic in "walk right now"

If your new to the jacksons music and want to complete your collection after michaels untimely death then this is the album you should be picking up first.

Although not produced by Quincy jones the brothers production is excellent and features a lot of the session musicians that michael used for his solo work like Greg Phillinganes and Jerry Hey.

classic !

This is it. The album that all Jacksons fans should own. This is to the Jacksons what 'Thriller' is to Michael Jackson.

Admittedly, this is not a re-master, but instead a re-release but if you don't own this cd already it is worth purchasing this edition for the remixes included.

Every track on the cd is killer. Not a single bad song. The big hits from this album were 'Can You Feel It' and 'Lovely One' as well as what lots of fans consider the 'original' Billie Jean song 'Heartbreak Hotel'. It's lyrics are kind of similar and it is an irresistably funky track to dance to.

As well as the hits, every song here could have been released, much like Thriller, 'Everybody' is in the style of 'Off The Wall', 'Time Waits For Noone' is possibly one of the prettiest ballads Michael Jackson ever recorded, up there with Human Nature and Lady in My Life.
And 'Your Ways' has Jackson singing in the falsetto used for the hit 'Don't Stop Til You Get Enough'.

All the other brothers shine here too, Tito's guitar-playing on the track 'Walk Right Now' is so funky and Marlon's co-lead on the song 'Give It Up' is very smooth and reminiscant of a Motown Ballad.

If you're even a casual fan of the Jacksons, or of the sound of 80's pop in general then this album will not let you down.

I agree totally with the reviwer above here. This LP out of all the Jacksons LP's is easily the best. Theres not a bad track on here. I remeber buying this on vinyl when i was 13 and got it after Thriller cam out. I still play this LP today and snapped it up as soon as it was released on CD. The only downside is that these reissues havent been remasterd unlike Michaels albums which is a shame but is only a minor niggle. The fantastic This place hotel and can you feel it are prbably the best tracks but Lovely one and your ways are divine too. If you like Michael and want to invest in a jacksons album..THIS IS THE ONE..get it now!

Out of the three CBS releases: Destiny, Truimph and Victory, this is the best. It has 1 more song than the other two, and features better songs. It starts with the most famous track -'can you feel it'. An epic, Michael's vocals make this song brilliant. The 'lovely one' follows, another good song, with a typical Michael Jackson ending. 'Your ways' is alright, not as good as the first two, probably because the vocals are along way up the scale. 'Everybody' is the worst, but isn't that bad. And then there's 'this place hotel' (or that's what it says on the cover - very confusing) - probably the best song and guess what, it is written by Michael Jackson. It has a stunning guitar solo - and starts and end in spectacular fashion. 'Time waits for no-one'. Through composed and a very gentle peace. When the title is sang again and again is when this song is at its best. My favourite track then follows: the long 'walk right now', absolute class. The next track is ruined by a perculiar ending, and is high pitched - though it is still a enjoyable. And then 'wondering who', also a very good track. This happened just before 'Thriller' and was a very good TEAM effort. Arguably the best Jackson album to-date, STUNNING.
