5.0 out of 5 stars Eclipses all the competition, 15 Jul 2003
This phone has a huge colour screen but its battery lasts for a week on standby - far better than the colour Nokias or Samsungs and for less than half the price!
The speakerphone function is very useful as it is sometimes inconvenient to use a handsfree set and I have found that using the speakerphone instead of talking normally does not appreciably reduce the talktime.
The menu is easy to understand and good to look at, with relevant icons.
If you get bored of the 6 backgrounds provided (inlcuding one where the number of trees represents signal strength and battery power) you can download more from the Mitsubishi wap site for free, along with a huge range of polyphonic ringtones and banners, which can also be sent to your phone by sms (when you register your phone with the Mitsubishi website you receive ringtone and banner credits).
Before buying the Eclipse I had a Nokia 5210, I only miss one feature from this phone - the stopwatch, which most people will not be interested in anyway.
I also used to have a Trium Geo@, which shows how fast Mitsubishi has come on with its technology compared to its rivals as the two phones are a world (but only a year) apart. The Eclipse is not even the newest Mitsubishi phone, (they have produced two since - M320, m21i - which are full colour but more compact, use i-mode and have vast storage capacities.) but the Eclipse is definitely best value for money; it's bursting at the seams with useful features such as voice dialling, infra-red and a dual clock for travellers. The eclipse has two games, (including bowling) nothing special but good enough to while away a delay in an airport or a wet lunchtime.
The four way navigation button is invaluable, especially when using special characters in sms as you don't have to trawl through the whole list as in Nokias.
The one bugbear I have about this phone is that it is difficult to find accessories for it as Triums are not widely used or known about - but there's only one solution to that - everyone should have a Trium!
Overall this phone is one of the best on the market today if you have a budget of less than £100 and I have experienced no problems with mine - all I can say is buy it!
I realise the picture on the Mitsubishi site doesn't look very attractive but it actually looks very different "in the flesh" and I have grown very fond of mine (it's silver though not graphite).

5.0 out of 5 stars Trium fan, 24 Sep 2003
By A Customer
A couple of years ago i had a trium mars which i was very happy with then went on to a nokia. Recently i have upgraded back to the trium Eclipse and have not been disappointed. It is a lovely looking phone with some very good features. I only need mine for home use and one of the features i bought it for was the facility to register more than one telephone number to one person rather than entering a different one for work and home etc. It also has the facility to record addresses which is very handy if you are out and want to post something without having to remember to take the address details with you. The other feature i use the most is the alarm which allows you to have a snooze although this is not obvious on first use.I am not a great one for looking through the manual to learn how to use features and have been able to master it's functions without too much reference to the guide. One thing that does make it stand out is it's great screen savers. I have mine on urban at present which changes from a day scene to a night scene at 7pm each day. There is a good selection of ringtones to choose from also. So i would strongly advise anyone to buy this phone and i have to say at present Amazon are selling it much cheaper than i got it for and i thought i had done well, it's great value for money. Finally i chose the silver fascia which i think looks much better than graphite. The phone is very lightweight and although not as small as some other phones i don't think it makes a lot of difference.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect, 23 Nov 2003
Brilliant! has all the features i need and some besides - Unlike the picture, the phone itsself comes in Silver/Blue and looks superb - Colour screen is far larger than anything your friends will have and can display full text message (no scrolling)

it doesn't come with data cable for pc hookup but it supports infra-red (unlike some current mobiles) so i treated myself to irda hookup for my PC (£15) and can install new melodies and wallpaper for free (which is why some new phones dont support it now ;o)- it's only 256 cols but supports .jpg & .gif

Diary/Appointments/Contacts are 'Vcalender/Vcard' compatable with Outlook & has custom alarm (can be notified upto 'days' in advance not just minutes)

Voice Memo/Dictator (upto 120 sec) is an easy one touch operation & can record phone calls too

Hands Free is a great one touch feature 'Speak On/Off'- you can put phone down whilst chatting/let others listen & it's loud and clear so dont need hands free kit

For your party piece it has voice dialling, which again is one touch operation (just say "Home" and it dials home :o) how neat is that

I wont bore you with regular mobile features, but if you aren't intrested in a camera it has everything else

I was so impressed, i bought my dad one too
