An essential piece of equipment for many small woodworking workshops. For anyone currently using a small vacuum or HPLV-type dust extractor, this Dust Bucket will save you a lot of bother. It essentially stops the majority of the dust from reaching your extractor. This helps to keep the filters clean, which means you do not experience a drop in suction. It works very well and, even when you do notice the airflow drop a little as the drum begins to fill, a few thumps on top of the Dust Bucket should help to keep its filter clean. Also, the clear plastic construction allows you to see how much does is inside. How many workshop vacuums are as convenient?!

You get a couple of hoses (one long, one short) supplied as standard and all the relevant connectors to set the Dust Bucket up in your workshop. I found that the longer hose wasn't quite long enough for working with some power tools in my workshop so, I may have to buy a second length and see if I can join them together... While the sole connector does fit snugly on to some of my power tools (it seems to favour the Makita brand...), on others, you will have to come up with another means to getting connected - but then, that's a common flaw found with many power tool extractors. Usually, some kind of stepped or tapered connector will solve most problems, if you don't fancy messing around with scraps of 32mm waste pipe.

Some woodworkers prefer to make their own 'drop boxes' from whatever sheet materials they have lying around. But, considering the planning, time and expense that goes in to producing something heavy that may not work as well as hoped, at around £40, I believe that the Triton Dust Bucket represents very good value for money indeed.

I bought this dust bucket as a retirement present to myself so that I could get more adventurous in the woodwork I do. It is an excellent bit of kit that save so much mess in the garage. I use to just use a vacuum cleaner adapted buy the sawdust quickly clogged it up. Now just insert this between the vacuum and the power tool and all the saw dust is captured. Great for providing dust and chipping for a wood smoker or just the compost heap and so easy now to keep the work area clean.

The item arrived in good time. It comes with enough kit to connect the smaller hose to the vacuum outlet, and the longer hose to the tool inlet. The 2 additional adaptors are to attach to triton tools. If you want to use the 2nd inlet for another tool, you'll need to purchase a third hose and a third hose to bucket adaptor. To get another adaptor will cost more than £5 plus £5 postage. However, I used one of the triton tool adaptors and ground off the lugs using a bench grinder and file, and it fits into the bucket lid to attach the hose for the second machine. I picked up a discarded house vacuum hose which threaded into the adaptor ok as they seem to be standard sizes. This will save you £15 - £20 in over priced accessories. I used jubilee clips to attach the other end of the hoses to my table saw and 2 chop saw ports. A bit of duck tape was useful where sizes were not snug.

The bucket is light and keeps falling over as you move the hoses about to attach to the machines. I connected it to my vacuum cleaner arm to suck up the sawdust from my workshop floor. It may not be intended for this use, but it did loose suction quickly and the filter got clogged often. Banging on the top as others have suggested didn't remove the fine dust. I had to remove the top and use the vacuum cleaner directly to clean the filter. It may work better on sawdust only. I'm not pleased with the efficiency of this product. I'd return it if I hadn't used it. Poor.

I bought one of these when I got tired of sweeping up the sawdust from my series 2000 workcentre - just plugged an old and battered household vacuum cleaner in the top, plugged the other hose in near the saw, and it merrily gathers most of the dust that was going everywhere. The filter is easy to clean, and it holds a lot of dust before it needs emptying.

I am gradually buying the accessories for the Series 2000 Workcentre & find that even with my industrial vacuum fitted it still spews dust out. The vacuum bags fill up quickly so this was the obvious answer. It's basically a plastic bucket with a fancy lid! There is a filter in the lid for the vacuum outlet on the suction side + 2 inlets which you can blank off individually by sliding a blanking plate in or out - this is really handy if you have other tools which also require a vacuum take-off. The hoses should be longer so you can choose to cut them to your required length + it should be 1/2 the price! Like all the triton range, it's well made.
It still spews dust out unless you also buy the underside dustbag kit - also good and expensive!

A long time ago, I worked in plant hire & we hired industrial dust extraction units, I never thought I would be able to afford one myself. This unit turns your Hoover into a reasonable dust extraction unit though an inexpensive improvement would have made a big difference. As others have mentioned, you have to keep banging the top, actually every time I use it I remove the top & clean the filter. The filter clogs quickly with the moist fine saw dust, dry sawdust possibly would fall away with a tap but in real use, not all wood is totally dry & therefore sticks to the filter. I'm sure a silky lining on the filter would make it really difficult for the dust to stick, I think I'll try it out for myself.
