Absolutely Awesome!!! 26 Nov 2000
Format:Audio CD
This band wil soon become one of the biggest bands in the world. I first seen this band just this year (2000), in Manchester supporting Queensryche, and I have never seen or heard such a reception for a support band EVER!!! This band are so original, in sound and content. The songs are very strong the musicianship is exceptional (there is only 3 of them). Jeff Martins vocal work is superb and he has got a real addictive voice, you just do not get tired of listening to him. The diversity of the album is simply phenomenal, I dont believe any band has ever sounded so different from one track to the next. It is an album that really hits every emotion possible, a lot of which is to do with the lyrical content combined with Jeff's 'addictive' voice.

With its diversity its an album I dont think you can really categorise, and with that, I would recommend it to anyone who has a love for 'fantastic music'. There is not a weak track on this CD with the highpoints, specifically being, UNDERGROUND, HEAVEN COME DOWN, the oriental sounding THE HALCYON DAYS, the phenomenal MESSENGER, A SLIGHT ATTACK, TAKING ME AWAY, the powerful THESE LIVING ARMS.

My favourite tracks however, are the last two on the CD, the amazing CHIMERA which is a very powerful emotional song, yet not a ballad. Also the superb GONE an acoustic song, which has a fanastic string section which gives this song such depth and feeling.

What a wonderful band, please, please go out and purchase this masterpiece, no matter what style of music you enjoy this one will compare to no other.

PURE INDIVIDUALITY, PURE BRILLIANCE, PURE PERFECTION!!!!

Amazing! 5 Sep 2004
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
If you like rock with lyrics and guitar riffs that make you stop in your tracks (no pun intended), buy this album. Jeff Martin has a haunting voice full of confusion, passion and anger, and I haven't heard guitar playing this good since 'The Smiths' were in their heyday. 'Heaven Coming Down' is one of the most beautiful songs I know, and the album shifts from head-banging rock to ballads of great poignancy which stop short of being cliched. The 'Tea Party' is huge in Canada, which is where they're from; don't let this put you off. A fabulous album.

Mind-blowing 7 Mar 2000
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
The Tea Party's most well-rounded effort to date. This album packs the punches of "Transmission" while retaining the nuances of "Edges of Twilight" and "Splendor Solis." Jeff Martin is at his finest lyrically - Stuart Chatwood helped design the layout (if i remember correctly) - and JM told me that Jeff Burrows put down at least one of the songs in one take. "The Messenger" is a brilliant cover of Daniel Lanois' often difficult song. "Halcyon Days" and "Underground" give a glimpse into the enigma that is Martin, "theosophical in persuasion, but hedonistic in disguise." "Heaven Coming Down" (the first single), "Gone", and "These Living Arms" are all touching love songs, mainly of love that is fading, a la "Psychopomp" (from "Transmission"). I highly recommend this album to anyone who likes their beautiful rock stars to have an equally brilliant brain....
