The entire prologue is missing, detailing the lead up to the events that happen within the book. Apart from that it is a good start to the Lensman series, now, where are the rest of the books in the series?

As stated, the entire lead-in is missing, that is 93 pages in my old well worn edition of Triplanetary.. Very disappointed with only half a book. You need to do better Kindle.

This book takes a little while to get going but it really comes to a fascinating end. It gets the whole series off to a great start.
If you have never read the Lensman Series, I can't recommend it enough. It just gets better with each book.
Thanks Ripping Publishing for reintroducing it!

Having finished this book I was left a bit confused by the structure. Turns out the book started life a serial in a magazine which was then turned into a novel which was subsequently rewritten to act as a prequel to the Lensman series. The result is a bit of a mess.

The book itself also reads a bit poorly, with a terrible "love" story, and a fascination with drawn out descriptions of battles which ignore the show don't tell rule and tend to bore quite quickly.

My advice skip straight to the true Lensman books, Isaac Asimov's foundation series, or Ian Banks Culture Novels. (Both better reads from better writers.)

Just as I remember it when I read it as a teenager, can't wait until the rest of the Lensmen series is released to the Kindle

I have been a follower of EE Doc Smith for many years and this is a "re-read" The book has lost nothing over the years and many of today's writers could benefit from reading this master of science fiction's work. The tales and plots are engrossing and good enough to enthrall the reader. Five stars are not enough!

This is the first of the fantastic lensmen series, although it doesn't actually have any direct relevance on the rest of the series. For this reason, many people don't count it as part of the set.
As a standalone, it probably couldn't be described as great, but having read the others many years ago, the series most certainly is.
It is a shame that the series isn't available on kindle though.

the first book in the lensman series written years ago but stands the test of time and is a brilliant introduction to the series
