This is an interesting book for me because I no opportunity to read it in my youth. I am 78 years of age and the adventures are interesting and serves as historical reference on how our world was populated with the trials and problems of slavery , religion, education, navigation, war, and peace. The risks taken by countries sending ships to sea were significant.

A fine collection of classic adventure novels. A good read for anyone interested in older literature. be forewarned though, the older style of writing requires a far bit of focus to read!

I've enjoyed these titles since I was a kid, and reread them often. I received a [[B002FQJT3Q:Kindle]] for Christmas, and just had to have these books at my fingertips.

4.0 out of 5 stars I never knew there was so much to this, or even that it was a trilogy - great reads 27 Nov 2012

Having read the original back in Junior High, I was reminded of many details I had forgotten, and most of which is not in the movies and other condensed versions. I was astounded that there was so much religion underlying the plot and characters, the treatment of the natives, and the technology and hazards back in those early discovery and sailing days.
