Wow 5 Mar 2011
Format:Audio CD
Just says it all. At first I was a little unsure as to whether it was a good idea to have bought it, but then I received it this morning (much sooner than expected so thank you Amazon) and listened to it, and I love it. There's not a song I don't like, though 'Unchained Melody' is just beautiful and my favourite, some of the other songs make me want to dance so it's a great mix. Without this CD I wouldn't know any of these songs.
Also, may I say that not all Clay fans are middle-aged, I'll only turn 17 in a few months and I love him. If you're unsure whether as to buy it then I suggest you do, I did and haven't regretted it. The second disc is also very interesting to watch. Thanks again Clay and I'll listen to any future CDs you do :D

YES! YES! YES! 1 Jun 2010
By A* - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
Ever since Clay Aiken ran over, got out of his car, checked the body and drove over it in reverse singing Mack the Knife on American Idol -- I have been dying for him to do a standards set. He always had an excellent way with phrasing. And that is what separates someone from just bulldozing through a song and making it truly live and breathe. There has to be a connection that goes beyond vocal ability and also, there has to be a great band. Thankfully this CD has both, naturally. The songs are allowed to simmer and build and stray just far enough from their more well known arrangements to sound familiar but also adventurous. "Suspicious Minds" keeps its jaunty juxtaposition of rhythm vs. lyrics. And What he does to an old war horse as "Misty" is just grand, he stretches and plays with those vowels like a cat with string. "Moon River," is simply flawless, ranking up there with Raul Malo's wonderful take.

I would love to see Aiken tackle more material in this genre, his voice has grown to this lovely smokey quality that still has a killer upper register. It is more than adept at carrying the weight of these lyrical gems. It would be amazing, say about 15 or so years from now, to have a library from him that is in its infancy and be able to sit next to those that have mastered the American songbook.

Clay IS Back 1 Jun 2010

I have loved Clay's voice since I first heard him on American Idol, over 7 years ago but to be truthful, his CDs never quite captured his amazing vocal ability....until now. I have been listening to this new offering on repeat since I downloaded it and it is stunningly beautiful. Decca records has done what RCA failed to do, capture the richness and glory of a voice that comes along rarely. Clay has never sounded better.

His duet with Linda Eder, Crying, is so beautifully sung by both artists. It is just gorgeous. Truly a masterpiece as is the entire CD. Even if you don't think you will like these timeless songs, Clay makes them fresh and new. He is working with some fabulous musicians which helps to create a swinging big band sound reminiscent of the masters of yore. But there is nothing old about this CD. It's fresh, new and Clay Aiken at his very best. I'm loving every single track.

HIS BREAKTHROUGH ALBUM...A GEM!!! 2 Jun 2010
By Burton D. Shapiro - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
Finally the album that i have been waiting for. Clay had the good sense to record the classics. Great song selection, and renditions. This is the music he should have been singing all along. The best covers since he recorded Solitiare.

His voice is tailor made for these songs. One of the best versions of Unchained Melody, a heatfelt It's Impossible, and a sublime duet with Linda Eder on Crying. Not to metion his Kick-Ass version of Mack The Knife.

If anyone loves GOOD music, this album is a must have !!!
